With nearly two decades of experience in financial markets and public pensions, Varela successfully grew Hawaiis Employees Retirement System portfolio from $22 million to $26 billion in just a few months. She will start her new role in June, overseeing all investments to boost the states wealth fund and promote prosperity for everyone.
