What needs to be cut out of your life to make more room for Jesus? In John chapter 15, Jesus states "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit". This analogy of a vine and branches is used as a way to teach Jesus' disciples (and us) about the importance of abiding in Him. Does the Bible have anything to say about finding healing from trauma? It does - we just don't go deep enough. When you encounter Jesus, you encounter the one who the Scriptures say heals our wounds by his wounds...In The Gospel of John chapter 9, Jesus miraculously heals a man who was born blind, and what unfolds from the encounter is an unearthing of community rejection, religious barriers and trauma. One of the main themes of The Gospel of John - and one of the things Jesus is most famous for are his miracles and signs. The Gospel of John details miracles Jesus accomplished among people and outlines what they mean and point to.In the Gospel of John chapter 5, Jesus does a strange miracle of multiplying bread for a crowd. The Gospel of John features situations where Jesus was approached by someone with a question or issue and instead of giving a simple response, Jesus offers a story or a sign to provide a deeper, satisfying and more clarifying answer. In The Gospel of John chapter 2, the author John records Jesus' first miraculous sign - turning water into wine at a wedding. Sound strange? People are used to stories of Jesus healing the sick and the poor - but divine intervention for more wine? What does this story tell us about Jesus and our relationship to him? When you hear the word, "God" what do you think of? The chances are high that whatever comes to your mind is probably related to your experience with people, and a lot of times people fail at representing God.
