Heir, by Sabaa Tahir, is a young adult fantasy novel published in 2024.
The novel, told in alternating voices, follows three teenagers–Aiz, Quil, and Sirsha–whose fates intertwine to stop the murder of innocent children. They journey across two warring nations, Kegar and the Martial Empire, to ensure a better future for their people. Aiz, a Kegari windsmith, seeks to free the spirit of her people's Holy Cleric, Mother Div, who is trapped by an ancient evil. Quil, a Martial prince, must unravel a conspiracy that threatens his empire and uncover the truth about his past. Sirsha, a Jaduna tracker, is bound by a vow to hunt down the child-killer, a task that leads her to confront a powerful and terrifying entity.
