Unprecedented Heat Wave Grips the Nation: A Climate Change Concern
The West, including Utah, experienced one of its warmest winters, followed by a massive heat wave pushing temperatures even higher. Arizona and California hit record-breaking temperatures in March, while Salt Lake City topped its old March high. This heat dome, a high-pressure system trapping warmth, is now shifting east, affecting nearly the whole country. States from Wyoming to Minnesota logged their hottest March days ever, with some spots twenty to thirty degrees above normal.
This heat wave is causing concern, especially regarding drought risks and low water levels in the Colorado River. Utahs governor raised flags on snowpack and fire dangers.
