In today's bonus episode of the Sales Success Stories podcast, we continue our series of hallway conversations from last year's Sales Success Summit that we started last month with a gigantic shoutout to Jeff Bajorek for hosting these year after year. For a little bit of extra context on this one, you can go back to March 7th, 2022 in your feed to hear the Audio from Briana's presentation on Maintaining Your Momentum and Staying Motivated. Enough from me. Here they are:

Ep 166166: The Power of Community with Jack Wilson
Today, Scott welcomes sales professional and friend, Jack Wilson, back to the show after nearly five years to discuss a recent career pivot Jack made. After years as an individual contributor, Jack has taken a recent opportunity to branch out into Sales coaching. He discusses that and so much more on today's episode. Jack is the epitome of leadership, execution, and motivation. After recently having two children, Jack has made it a point to focus on balance. Jack and Scott talk about the importance of striking that balance, the value of not giving blind loyalty to a company or organization, and what it means to take calculated risks in your career.

Summit Hallway Conversations: Sarah Brazier & Luke Floyd
Today's bonus episode is brought to you thanks to the generous support of The Sales Collective. To learn more about them, just click over to top1.fm/tsc for The Sales Collective. In today's bonus episode of the Sales Success Stories podcast, I've got the first in a series of hallway conversations from last year's Sales Success Summit. Truth be told, I totally forgot I had these. Jeff Bajorek has been kind enough to host this series of interviews during every Summit and until last year we released them in near real-time. With this set, I had a different plan and apparently completely forgot about said plan. The result is maybe even better because this year's Summit is just 2 months away on October 16th and 17th and these conversations are such a great reminder of just how powerful and impactful the Summit really is. Yes, the content and presentations are amazing because they exclusively feature the top performers that you've heard here on this podcast, but it's more about the experience and the opportunity to build real relationships and have real conversations with some of the best in the business. So, for the next couple of months leading up to this year's Summit, I'll be sharing some of these conversations. This one features Jeff talking with Sarah Brazier and Luke Floyd, and for added context, you can scroll back in your feed to March 21, 2023, to hear the audio from Luke's presentation. Here they are with a pretty cool little intro of their own:

Ep 165165: Relationship-Based Selling, Treating Clients Like Family, & Achieving Alignment with Intricate's Blair Hamer
Blair Hamer is the top Client Champion for Intricate, the leading energy services provider of regulatory consulting and reporting, field services, and software to the Oil & Gas Industry. Blair is an incredibly thoughtful and knowledgeable sales professional who is always seeking out win-win scenarios so he can provide value to both his clients and his organization. It is Blair's belief that in providing an authentic experience, a long-term relationship grows, built on trust, hard work, and intelligence.

Ep 164164: Human Selling: Finding True Discovery & Connection with Belkins' Brian Hicks
Brian Hicks is the top seller and team leader as VP of Sales at Belkins, but that's just scratching the surface of what Brian is all about. As a sales professional, Brian has been ultra-successful throughout his career. However, it was surviving a tragedy that completely altered Brian's mindset, outlook, and approach to Sales. Brian is passionate about helping others in whatever way he can. That passion has provided him with a meaningful and winding road of professional experiences. With over fifteen years of experience in relationship-based sales and management, Brian has successfully recruited, trained, enabled, managed, and integrated solutions and teams in startups, Fortune 100, 500, and 1000 companies across industries such as IT, Finance, Retail, and Food & Beverage.

Ep 163163: Relationships Over Transactions: How Fringe's Carl Sajous is Changing the Game in Sales

Carl is a strategic and thoughtful sales professional who is both methodical and relaxed in his approach.

A Personal Update from Scott
Hey there, thank you for listening to and subscribing to this podcast. I really appreciate it. I just have two quick updates for you in this off-schedule episode. The first one is personal, and what I'm actually going to do is include my Daily Sales Tip from May 31st here in a couple of minutes so you don't have to go hunt that down if you haven't yet heard it. It's a little bit of an uncomfortable share for me, but explains the inconsistency with new interviews here on Sales Success. A situation I'm working on rectifying over the next few weeks. So I guess stay tuned for that update. In the meantime, I want you to get yourself registered for the webinar series that we're presenting with the support of Vidyard, The Sales Collective, Sales Hacker, Outreach, and the Sales Feed. It's happening on Friday, June 9th. Hopefully, you're able to join us live, but if you register we'll be sure to get you the recordings afterwards. Do us both a favor and hit pause, click over to Top1.fm/WS for Webinar Series, and register. You can see the full lineup there as well, but being that you're listening to a podcast, you might be a bit more audio inclined, so let me share with you what's in store:

No Presentations… All Conversations
Today I've got a quick update on our upcoming Basecamp event. This was originally scheduled for May 9th and was meant to be kind of a Sales Success Summit light. A single-day event with a whole series of really actionable, shorter presentations from the top sellers that you've heard here on this show. I won't go into the gory details, but some things happened that caused me to rethink that approach and I'm super excited about how we've pivoted. We'll be taking that originally planned content and will be doing a day-long webinar series in collaboration with Sales Hacker on June 9th. We don't quite have the landing page up for that, but if you go to top1.fm and join the listener list you'll be one of the first to have the opportunity to sign-up.

Defunkification
In today's bonus episode of the Sales Success Stories Podcast, I'm going to do something I've never done before. It's super personal and super uncomfortable, but given how much it resonated with others on our last Sales Success Community call, it feels like a really important thing to share. I'm trying to Defunkify myself! I have been off my game for almost an entire year, and I'm sure experiencing some mild depression. I won't get into all of the causes, because it's really not that important, and many of us get into this place for a whole variety of reasons. What I want to focus on is getting out of it!

One, there's a bit of language in this one, so fair warning and Two, there are definitely some visual elements, so I'd encourage you to check out the links at top1.fm/ian2022 where you can find links to the videos of both his 2022 and 2021 presentations. Setting Yourself Up For A Great 2023!
I've got one more short update episode for you as we wrap up the year. We should be back with a new interview episode the first week of January, so make sure you're subscribed to the podcast. The first update is that the videos from the 2022 Sales Success Summit should be available just in time for Christmas. If you've already signed up and are waiting for those to be delivered. Keep an eye on your inbox. If you didn't fill out the form at Top1Summit.com to get access to all of those videos for free, this is your last chance. You'll need to do that before December 31st. After that, they'll be going up behind a paywall. That said if you're listening to this in 2023 and beyond. You can get a couple of access codes to individual videos by joining our mailing list at top1.fm. That's T-O-P the number 1 dot FM, and the link to the summit page is available there as well. Hit pause and do that now if you haven't already! Now, if you're looking to set yourself up for a super solid 2023 I've got an incredible offer for you in our All Access Pass and as I talk through this you can find the details at top1.fm/2023. You may have heard me say before that I'm really leaning into the community this year. In addition to our two-day Sales Success Summit next October, we're adding another single-day event in May called Basecamp. Both events will feature presentations from the top performing sales professionals that you've heard here on this podcast and as excited as I am about both of those events, the thing I think is really going to make the biggest difference is the way we're working to engage and connect the community in a more meaningful and impactful way. We just kicked off a gamified experience just for All Access Pass Holders that's as much about bringing the community together as it is about public personal accountability and working together to execute at the highest levels.

Public Pause
Thank you so much for listening and subscribing to the podcast. Rather than just skipping this week I thought I'd record a short update for you to share what's going on and what you can expect over the course of the next few weeks. Not everyone knows that all of this Sales Success stuff, this podcast, the Daily Sales Tips podcast, the Sales Success Summit, the books, and everything else is actually one big side hustle. Like many of you, I'm a quota-carrying sales professional, and while I'm well ahead of plan for the year I've still got quite a bit of pipeline to work through in these next 4 weeks before Christmas, as well as a lot of planning and prep to do to make sure that I'm all set for a successful 2023 as well. If I'm really honest I'm also working through a bit of burnout having essentially worked 2 full-time jobs for the last 6 years! So I'm going to intentionally take my foot off of the gas with this podcast for the next few weeks, at least on the public side. I will be leaning into the paid Sales Success Community offering a bit more and you can learn more about that opportunity at top1.fm/2023 I'm also going to keep things going on the Daily Sales Tips Podcast side of things as well, though I'm sure we'll do a big top tips countdown over there in a few weeks, as I'm going to try to completely take off the week between Christmas and New Years. That's it. I just wanted you to know that we'll probably release just one last interview this year, and I'll be resetting and gearing up to make 2023 our best year yet for you and for me. Again, be sure to check out what's going on over at top1.fm/2023 as the best way you can support this effort and yourself is to get involved there. Oh, and I'm also working on booking more interviews, so if you or someone you know is going to finish as the outright #1 top performer for the year. Reach out and make an intro. To qualify, they must be in an individual quota-carrying role and have been a consistent top performer on a team of at least 5 sellers. Thanks again for listening and I'll talk to you soon!

Sales Tip Pizza Party with Jacquelyn Nicholson and Mike Simmons
In today's bonus episode of the Sales Success Stories podcast I've got maybe the most unique share yet. Right after the Sales Success Summit in October my pipeline of tips for the Daily Sales Tips podcast was running quite low, so I asked some core members of the Sales Success Community to contribute some tips. Now if you're a regular listener to that show, you may have heard a couple of these ideas from Jacquelyn Nicholson and Mike Simmons but the raw unedited version was so much fun I thought I'd just share the whole thing here. I'm going to have my audio editor make a few minor tweaks based on his judgement to clean up a couple of transitions, but other than that we're going to keep it pretty raw and if you click over to top1.fm/JM for Jacquelyn/Mike, we're going to include the full unedited video. Here they are, Enjoy!

The first survey question I asked was: Was this the best sales event you've ever attended? 91% said yes, and 100% of those that said No still gave it 5 stars. To learn more about what's coming in 2023 and to get involved in the community, click over to top1.fm/2023 for details.

PEEs are Legal in Sales!
I don't know about you, but I'm constantly on the lookout for every possible competitive advantage I can find to try to improve myself and my results. It's a huge reason why I started this show. Selfishly it allows me to build relationships with and learn from the best of the best in sales today. Unselfishly I record those conversations so you can listen in and learn alongside me. In addition to listening to these stories and gleaning the insights from top performers, one of the most powerful performance enhancers I've found isn't illegal or even unethical. I think of them as Performance Enhancing Events Of course, I'm talking about the Sales Success Summit where I'm able to bring many of these top performers who you've heard on this show together so that you too can meet them, talk with them and learn from them. And Now For Something Completely Different
And now for something completely different. I sent a newsletter out a couple of weeks ago that wasn't really directly related to sales at all. Instead, I was talking about a couple of books that I was reading on macro economics and what the future of the world might look like. It prompted some really interesting conversations and feedback. And one of those bits of feedback was that it was nice to get away from the pure sales content sometimes. I thought I'd lean into that a bit as we start to wrap up the summer and wanted to share my favorite recent non-fiction read, and by "read" I actually mean listen on Audible. This was "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir. You may recognize the author as the author of "The Martian" which was another book I absolutely loved. Now, he did a book in between called "Artemis" not my favorite, but "Project Hail Mary" is amazing. I highly highly recommend it. And I'd also love to hear what you're reading, or your favorite recent reads. I might even include some of those in a future newsletter. You can email me at [email protected] or feel free to send me a note on LinkedIn, and if you're not already on the listener list and receiving these newsletters. Click over to top1.fm and drop your name and email address into one of the forms. Thanks for listening, enjoy the rest of your Summer and make sure you're subscribed to the podcast so you don't miss my next interview with a top-performing sales professional.

Taking Time Off
I'm kind of cheating with this episode. Its purpose is to let you know that I'm taking a week off and that there won't be a bonus episode this week, but in a roundabout way, it helps me keep my streaks alive as I haven't missed a week on this show since we started consistently releasing bonus episodes between the interview episodes years ago. If you haven't already figured it out, I'm a HUGE believer in consistency as today we'll also be releasing episode 1242 on the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I've never missed a day on that show. Now, I'm cheating a little bit over there too with a bit of a best-of series, but it's important to take breaks. I've been in need of a massive refresh with tons going on professionally as always, but that's been compounded by a lot going on on the personal side with a new home purchase and renovation and prepping for the sale of my previous home which is currently under contract. For me, it's about getting my head right and getting ready for a full out 4 month sprint that will culminate in the Sales Success Summit and SalesTechEX the second week of October. I also need to get super aggressive about refreshing my productivity process when I get back to pull all of this off. So that's where we're at. No real episode today, and I appreciate your understanding and continuing to come back week after week to this show. I'll talk to you next week!

In today's bonus episode on the Sales Success Stories podcast I want to talk about doing your due diligence on a new sales role. Well, here's your resources thanks to a thread in the Sales Success Community Slack that Luke started, with some significant contributions from Eddie Baez and David Weiss.

David and Scott touch on subjects such as dollar-cost averaging, cryptocurrency, REITS, owning your own residence, and much more. David shares his thoughts on side hustles and why he believes that most sales professionals jump into their side hustles too quickly and at the expense of their everyday hustles. Finally, David speaks to his ability to build networks and foster relationships and why those two things have been critical to his success.
