The gifts of the Spirit are special abilities to do other-worldly things (i.e. superpowers) through the power of God. The Holy Spirit begins to give us these gifts at the moment of our salvation. He frequently give additional gifts when we receive His baptism of fire; and since the Bible tells us that we should desire all the gifts, it’s reasonable to infer that the Holy Spirit will keep giving us additional gifts on an ongoing basis, if we will only ask!
