Sedrick Murhula is a Congolese born, naturalized American citizen, youth motivator & public speaker multilingual professional with more than 13 years of experience in a grassroots organization (both locally and internationally), project management, career coaching, international and local strategic planning, youth development, mentorship, immigration and refugees’ issues; as well as economic development. At the age (17), Sedrick founded Young African Refugees for Integral Development (YARID), a non-profit organization dedicated to serving refugees in urban areas and the camps in East Africa Co-founded Your Platform. This organization provides consultancy, resources, and funding to local grassroots community-based Organizations in East Africa and the USA. For over 13 years, Sedrick Murhula has trained more than thousands of youth and adults in the US and abroad on different topics: ESL for adults, Youth Leadership, Advocacy, Community Engagement & organizing Cultural Competency, and Career Training. As a speaker, Sedrick speaks at different events, conferences, universities, and organizations on peace and conflict topics, youth as change-makers, refugees and immigrants, the on-going conflict in Congo and the Great Lakes Region of Africa, and global issues focused on immigration and refugees. He also has a blog where he reflects on his experiences (www.sauti-voice.com) and has a talk show and podcast called Mapipo Talk Show. He talks about issues affecting the African community in the diaspora and abroad. Currently, Sedrick works and consults with different organizations, communities, and their allies to help influence policy and advocate for social change.
