Spotlight Monday: Vetting A First Responder Therapist
On today’s Spotlight Monday, Salli and Vicki shed the light on the importance of vetting first responder therapists. They discuss some important questions to ask therapists during the vetting process and why it’s so integral for first responders and their families to trust these mental health clinicians. They also discuss the book, Counseling Cops by Ellen Kirschman, which helps therapists develop both their clinical and cultural competencies for serving cops. In addition, they mention Episode 26, where Jane discussed how she personally vetted and toured mental health facilities and why she believed that knowledge helped her be more successful at getting firefighters into treatment.
