The US Senate recognized June 27th as National PTSD Awareness Day at the urging of Senator Kent Conrad. Conrad wanted to honor a North Dakota National Guard member who had committed suicide after two tours of duty in Iraq. That designation came in 2014. Today on KDKA, Jill Lamar from Thriveworks was a guest on the Rick Dayton Show talking about PTSD, what it is, how counselors recognize it, and what they do to help clients suffering from PTSD.
