Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw tells Rick Dayton the company has already spent $31 million on the clean-up effort in East Palestine. They announced to investors in a recent earnings call they are setting aside $385 million more to rectify the derailment in eastern Ohio. Shaw said the company will do whatever it takes to help the community. Three long-term funds have been established to address these issues. Shaw reaffirmed the safety of rail traffic, but said he personally wants to lead the way to improve safety standards in the United States so something like this does not happen again.
