They talk about why Tez wanted to write about his childhood, why he selected the diary format even though he needed to recreate the entries retrospectively, being chased by a farmer with a shot gun, pretending his friend had broken his neck and how the book will resonate with most people’s experience of adolescent concerns, but with added layers of religious and cultural differences, racism and a bad relationship with a step father.
