Show Notes

The first episode in a monthly series in ThoughtHUB - a hub of thought for the primary sector - kicks off with Terry Copeland. The city slicker, David Bowie loving, wine buff running New Zealand Young Farmers talks to Sarah Perriam from Rural Exchange about the gapping hole in the need for more highly skilled labour in the 'food' industry. There's serious money some of these young people based in the 'primary sector' are making - $100,000 by age 26 with no qualifications! We talk isolation among st young people in rural despite being the most 'technologically connected generation and how NZ Young Farmers growing membership connects people to enhance their careers & lives. Terry states 'if we are going to be able to produce more valuable food from the same amount of land leaving less of a footprint behind we need the people to do so!'
