This week saw the celebration of International Women’s Day, and one of the things that can sometimes be overlooked in the rural mental health discussion is women’s well-being… It tends to be a male-focussed discussion… But for our next guest, that’s something she’s keen to address… Southland farmer and author Loshni Manikam, the 2018 Dairy Woman of the Year, joins us now.

Thursday night saw another instalment of the annual Findex Wanaka Agribusiness Dinner… As always, the REX team was proud to be a part of it… And to that end, we thought we’d have a chat with a local member of the team, Findex Agribusiness Partner, Alistair King, who specialises in viticulture and horticulture…

New research has found feeding cows the leafy herb plantain can reduce nitrogen leaching from dairy farms by up to 60%, and may help improve the quality of the country’s waterways… The research was led by DairyNZ and carried out at Massey University, and more recently Lincoln… To tell us more, we’re joined by Professor Peter Kemp from Massey University.
