Show Notes

Today we have Thomas Joseph -Farmer of Coxtie Green Farm in Essex and Founder of Thomas Joseph Butchery - on the show to talk all about farming and meat. I actually came across Thomas and Coxtie Green Farm by chance, but as soon as I met Thomas and started speaking to him I could see the passion he had for farming and in doing things the right way. So much so that not only did I think he’d be a great guest for the show, I knew that he was the man I would be buying my meat from in the future. Coxtie Green Farm is a Pasture For Life Farm which means animals eat only grass and forage their entire life. They have also never sprayed a single pesticide or herbicide on their farm, which is phenomenal in this day and age. The farm is also host to Thomas and his Butchery, where Thomas carefully sources, promotes and distributes rare breeds from other farms locally and further afield. In tandem with Coxtie Green Farm’s ethos, the butchery’s focus is on Grass Fed Beef and Lamb along with Pork and Poultry that is reared to the same standards seen on Coxtie Green Farm. In today’s show we discussed: Thomas’s journey to becoming a butcher and living on the farm How he started his butchery? The difference between Pasture For Life & Organic Farming His journey to having a holistic approach to health Why he doesn’t and won’t ever use pesticides and herbicides on his farm How people that come from outside the industry can have the biggest effect on moving farming and butchery forwards The different types of cow and meat they produce & much much more It was a pleasure to talk to Thomas and as you will hear in this interview, his passion for farming shines through. We will definitely be getting him back on the show in the not too distant future so we can hear what’s coming next for him and Coxtie Green Farm.
