6/6/1970 - Tigers vs A's - Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum -
The 1970 season was a significant one for the Oakland Athletics, who were in the middle of building a team that would become a dominant force in the early 1970s. The team, managed by John McNamara, had a regular-season record of 89-73, finished in second place in the American League West, and showed a lot of promise. The Detroit Tigers had a successful 1970 season as well. Managed by Mayo Smith, the Tigers had a regular-season record of 79-83 and finished in fourth place in the American League East.
