Witchfinder General

Back to some of the roots of extreme metal this week. Black Sabbath might be the first thing to come to mind when you hear Witchfinder General, but beyond some surface similarities, they are quite different beasts. Coming out of the NWOBHM scene, they didn't really fit in with their peers and were only a blip on the radar, until later touted as fuel for the later doom scene eruption in the late 80s. We discuss their blatant influence on Cathedral as well as how their lyrical content and image were a precursor to modern doom acts like Electric Wizard. Executive Producer: Justin Hofman "Free Country", Death Penalty (1982) Talkset #1 "Soviet Invasion", Soviet Invasion Single (1982) "Invisible Hate", Death Penalty (1982) "Death Penalty", Death Penalty (1982) "No Stayer", Death Penalty (1982) "R.I.P.", Death Penalty (1982) Talkset #2 "Witchfinder General", Death Penalty (1982) "Love on Smack", Friends of Hell (1983) "Music", Friends of Hell (1983) "Friends of Hell", Friends of Hell (1983) "I Lost You", Friends of Hell (1983) Talkset #3 "Quietus Reprise", Friends of Hell (1983) RequiemMetal.com Email us - [email protected] Support us on Patreon!
