Would you unlock your phone, and permanently give it to a stranger? Reading your emails and text messages, checking out your browsing history, looking through your contact lists? That is essentially what is happening when a car gets repossessed and the "infotainment system" is loaded with the consumers private information off their phones. Nationwide rent-a-car companies are engaged in class action suits for failing to "scrub" this information. And why the repo industry should be concerned.
