Terrorists are encroaching on our dream destinations through kidnappings, attacks and making security costs
prohibitive. Kimberly Sue Endicott and her tour guide driver were kidnapped in Uganda, while out on jeep safari.
Her lifelong dream to see gorillas in Africa turned into a nightmare when she was kidnapped by four gunmen
and held for $500,000 ransom. This could mark the beginning of a new strategy for terrorists, similar to the
pirates who attacked ships and held them for ransom. Dr. Carole tells of her African safaris by jeep,
elephant-back and horseback, to give you an idea of what sitting ducks tourists are alone in the breathtaking
jungles. Kimberly's story begs the question of how she was rescued if our government refuses to pay ransom….
The recent terror attack in Utrecht challenges the Netherlands' reputation as being one of the safer countries
in Europe. When a terrorist shot people on a tram, the authorities and media tried to say it was just a domestic
dispute, despite it having the earmarks of a terror attack, such as witnesses claiming to have heard the attacker
say, “Allahu akbar.” Hear all about the perpetrator, who has been described as a pious Muslim preaching
righteousness on days he wasn’t drunk, drugged or a rapist.
Thinking of going to Burning Man? Don’t buy your tickets just yet. The U.S. government is warning the organizers
of this arts and music festival that they will have to take drastic steps to keep it safe from terrorists, which may
make ticket prices go through the roof, if it can be done at all. Think terrorists aren’t affecting our lives? Think
again.
