Show Notes

The cautionary tale of Lauren Geoghegan and Jay Austin, two adventurous millennials in love, is
a chilling bit of reality for us all: Were they idealists? naive? in denial? Maybe all three. One thing is
certain, they are now tragically dead - murdered by ISIS terrorists in Tajikistan.

But who were Lauren and Jay, and how did they end up being rammed by terrorists, who then set
upon them with knives and firearms, when all the couple wanted to do was take a cycling trip to
exotic places? Lauren and Jay, were a Washington D.C. couple, who quit their jobs in 2017 to
cycle the world and blog about it. They were living the dream until it came to a nightmare ending
this summer, one year after they began.

They wanted to prove “humans are kind” and “evil is a make-believe concept we’ve invented to
deal with the complexities of fellow humans.” Unfortunately, they found out that not all humans
are kind and evil is real. Hear their last blog post, 18 days before they were killed. Were clues
to the cause of their ultimate demise hidden in plain sight?
