How change affects identity

This episode of the Reinventure Me podcast is about identity and work…and change. What you do matters to God. Yet what you do is not entirely who you are; neither is it something we should ignore. Instead, your show hosts Leary Gates and Armin Assadi discuss how identity—work and being—is a creative endeavor; one that requires continual discovery.

The show kicks off with an Inspire Me quote from Thomas Merton:

“If you want to identify me, ask me not where I live, or what I like to eat, or how I comb my hair, but ask me what I think I am living for, in detail, and ask me what I think is keeping me from living fully the thing I want to live for. Between these two answers you can determine the identity of any person. The better answer he has, the more of a person he is.”

And concludes with the ABCs of identity discovery from the Challenge Me segment:

A – Ask the questions Merton suggests: What am I living for? What is keeping me from it?
B – Believe your most important identity and expression comes from being a child of God (1 John 3:1)
C – Cultivate multiple identities (roles) to improve health and vitality.
