In November 2021, Nicholas Billingham and his partner Fiona Beal became unwell with covid and were forced to self isolate for 10 days. Nicholas then made the spontaneous decision to move down to Essex to live with another woman... for months afterwards, messages continued to arrive from his phone, describing a new life, a new woman called Faye, and a future far away. But when police carried out a routine check linked to the house he once shared with his partner, a trail of lies began to unravel, leading investigators to diaries, a hidden grave, and a meticulously planned killing. What they uncovered raised a disturbing question at the heart of this case: how does someone trusted with children become capable of something so calculated - and why was everything written down?
