Lenin's Imperialism: The Highest Stage of Capitalism is a classic text of Marxist political theory that analyzes imperialism as capitalism's advanced, monopolistic stage. Lenin argues imperialism arises from monopoly capitalism's drive for profits and new markets, resulting in finance capital dominating global economics, intense rivalries among imperialist powers, and the systematic exploitation of colonized nations. Central themes include the fusion of industrial and banking capital, capital export, division of the world among imperialist blocs, and the inevitability of inter-imperialist conflicts and wars. Ultimately, Lenin contends that imperialism intensifies capitalism's contradictions and accelerates revolutionary conditions, making socialist revolution not only necessary but historically imminent.
