In the pilot episode, our band of adventurers, Mak'ren Stoneshaper, Gideon Block, Poppy Tealeaf and Xonimus Danar get their mission from the manager of the Blackhands Rail Company to map the Ka'alban frontier. Then the quartet gets a chance to spend one last evening on the town, as the old song goes, "One Night in Venturis, and the World's Your Auroch". We also learn about the myth of Thundercrack, great brass dragon in the wild lands.
