He played a pivotal role in the treatment of former First Lady Betty Ford, astronaut Buzz Aldrin (the second man to walk on the moon), Billy Carter (brother of former President Jimmy Carter), country singer Larry Gatlin, and many others. Dr. Pursch changed the face of understanding, about alcoholism as a treatable disease.
