In 1993 Jon Brennan was cast on The Real World as an aspiring country music star from Owensboro, Kentucky for the show’s second season filmed in Los Angeles. The premise of the show was to tell the true story of seven strangers picked to live in a house and have their lives taped. What started off as a social experiment, capturing roommates from different walks of life, has become the blueprint for a whole genre of reality TV. Jon talks about how he was cast, how the show changed his life, and filming the memorable episode where his roommate opened up about her decision to have an abortion.
