She stepped out for ten minutes, leaving a sealed glass bottle sitting upright on the kitchen counter. The white screw-top cap was firmly in place. Nothing was heating. Nothing was under pressure.
When she returned, the cap had cracked off.
It hadn’t been unscrewed. It hadn’t shattered. It was resting neatly on the counter as if someone had placed it there, while the bottle remained perfectly upright.
There were no broken pieces. No disturbance. No logical explanation.
Months later, when she was alone at night, her dog began growling at the same corner near the bedroom door.
