A lot of people have a hard time dealing with silence, especially in the presence of another person. In many cultures, silence is viewed as a problem, a breakdown in communication, or a void that must be filled with some kind of noise. If the person we’re speaking with is silent too often or for too long, we tend to associate negative feelings with them such as boredom, awkwardness, and rejection. This episode will give you a different way to think about silence and help you to understand quiet people just a little bit better.
