Show Notes

June Burke lives at Spanish Point, County Clare and helps her brother John in the running of family business, The Armada Hotel. She has two children Callum and Amelya and she’s the founder of a positive sea swimming movement in West Clare called ‘Snámhaí Sásta’ (Happy Swimmers!), which celebrates it’s first birthday this month.Six years ago though, her life changed forever when her husband John, died by suicide a few months before his 40th birthday. We spoke at the end of January when she was sea swimming every morning, but naturally, due to Covid 19, she and her happy tribe of swimmers took a break from it.But she’s now back at the beach every morning and in this conversation we talk about self-care, the power of gratitude and how kindness is more important than anything else in life. You’ll find her on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/snamhaisasta/ Trigger warnings :Depression/Mental Health/Suicide/Grief If you need to talk to someone, you can contact a SamaritanFreephone 116 123or email [email protected]
