• Typically (universally?) a CCD photographs friction ridges directly.
• For LEA use, prints are stored as symmetric hashes (not the same as cryptographic hashing). Six-Flags "hashing" the fingerprints is meaningless.
• Only latent fingerprint images which are part of an ongoing investigation are actually retained as evidence.
