Pitt Track & Field Alumna Jordan Fields and Assessing Cultural Competence within Pitt Athletics

Jordan Fields, a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and member of the Track and Field team, co-wrote an op-ed (with Pitt football punter Ian Troost) concerning the lack of cultural competence within the university's athletic department, and how college athletics as a whole can better protect it's black student athletes moving forward. Some of her suggestions (locally and nationally) include providing black mental health counselors and refusing boosters who express hateful speech, like USC has implemented.
