Episode Description

In this episode (part two of two) with author and principal, John Marsden, we chat about how children are not all sweetness and innocence, how adolescents are not worthless and depraved and that parents need to be adults most of the time! If you’re curious as to why teens need to (metaphorically) ‘kill’ their parents to become adults, then this is the episode for you!

👉 Our Discussion

  • All children are both good and bad, innocent and evil
  • How idealising childhood sets teenagers up to fail and not want to grow up
  • How teenagers need to metaphorically ‘kill’ their parents to become adults
  • The importance of real world experiences in education
  • Ineffectual parenting practises
  • How it might be a good idea for Australia to one day have an Education minister that has actually worked in the Education industry…
