Fallecido el 13 de junio de 1910 en La Habana, Fermín Valdés Domínguez se vinculó al Partido Revolucionario Cubano, colaboró con el periódico Patria, se ocupó de la Sanidad Militar en Las Villas, fue subsecretario de Relaciones Exteriores, y ayudante del General en Jefe del Ejército Libertador, Máximo Gómez Báez.
