The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Nicholas Haysom, has urged the South Sudan government to accelerate the implementation of outstanding tasks in the Revitalized Peace Agreement to ensure a smooth process for the December 2026. Addressing the United Nations Security Council, Haysom noted the persistent challenges of communal violence that disproportionately affects vulnerable populations, particularly women, children and marginalised communities.
