Show Notes
Broadcast on the Feast of the Annunciation, Father Billy opens with a moving reflection on the raising of Lazarus — and on a statue called “Jesus Wept” commissioned after 9/11 — before turning to the heart of the day’s feast. He explores what Gabriel’s words would have meant to a young Jewish girl who recognised in them the same formula spoken to Abraham and Moses, and why it was the words, not the angel’s appearance, that frightened her. Father Billy reflects on Mary as a type for every baptised Christian: chosen not over others but for others, asked to say yes without knowing the full consequences, and faithful to that yes even under the shadow of the Cross. A beautiful and unhurried listen for the Feast of the Annunciation, and a gentle encouragement to trust that God’s timing is always right.
