This Northern Soul interview with Carmela was the second part of Ciara’s story about her journey with fertility challenges and the creation of Calm Fertility Care. Ciara shared how she experienced a miscarriage after an IVF procedure, which led her to arrange a burial ceremony for her baby Gianna Mary at a consecrated site. Following the guidance of Father Jim McNally, Ciara eventually pursued restorative reproductive medicine and discovered she was pregnant again. Despite doctor’s concerns about the pregnancy’s viability, Ciara gave birth to a healthy baby named James after 5 days in NICU. Inspired by her experiences, Ciara trained as a fertility care practitioner and established Calm Fertility Care in Northern Ireland to provide accessible alternative fertility treatments to those seeking pregnancy help. During the interview, Ciara also shared statistics about IVF procedures, highlighting the significant number of embryos lost or destroyed during treatment.
