In today’s episode, Rach and Suz consider how salt is talked about in both the Old Testament (in Numbers 18:19 and Leviticus 2:13) and the New Testament (Matthew 5:13). Jesus calls us to be the “salt of the Earth” (not to be salty!). How would 1st century Jewish hearers of this have understood this command? What can we learn about the value of salt and how not to lose our saltiness? And what does it truly mean to be the salt of the Earth?
