Show Notes

(00:00-23:17) – The Fan Midday Show opens on a Wednesday with Will Haskett and Jimmy Cook telling stories from the first time that they were able to go to the Indianapolis 500, ask for calls from people that explain why they’re attending their first Indy 500 this weekend, and briefly touch on how disappointing the conference finals have been in the NBA and NHL.

(23:17-32:34) – Andretti Autosport’s Kyle Kirkwood joins Will Haskett and Jimmy Cook on the Fan Midday Show to compare and contrast driving last year for A.J. Foyt Racing to Andretti Autosport this season, how important it was for him to pick up that first win of his career earlier this season at Long Beach, what the team learned from their practice on Monday, and makes a case why people should pick him to win the race.

(32:34-42:15) – Ed Carpenter, Owner of Ed Carpenter Racing, joins Will and Jimmy on the Fan Midday Show ahead of Sunday’s race to explain if there’s a message that he’s sent the entire team leading up to the race, the difference for him between being an owner of a team along with being a driver, and if he ever thought as a kid that he would become a driver/owner.

(42:15-1:12:06) – One half of Kevin and Query that also serves as the turn three announcer for the IndyCar Radio Network in Jake Query joins Will and James on The Fan to explain what teams work on during the practices this week prior to the race, when he really starts realizing who has the strongest chance to win the race, which story line the fans would enjoy the most, and what is the biggest piece of advice that he would give to first time Indy 500 fans.

(1:12:06-1:20:05) – Will and Jimmy go back to the phone lines by asking veteran Indy 500 fans for their experiences attending the race in different spots to figure out which turn is the best seat in the house. Additionally, they discuss the news of Jonathan Taylor signing with a new agency that also represents Shaquille Leonard.

(1:20:05-1:24:31) – The one o’clock hour concludes with Will and Jimmy taking one more call from a veteran Indy 500 attendee and discussing the news of Pacers All-Star Tyrese Haliburton as the honorary pace car driver for the race this weekend.

(1:24:31-1:51:05) – The head of marketing at IMS, Michael Kaltenmark, joins Will Haskett and Jimmy Cook on the Fan Midday Show to explain how the marketing team explains how they are able to recruit young adults to IMS for the race, how they were able to land Shaq as the DJ of the snake pit on race day, all the other events that they have throughout the year to keep the speedway busy, and what he is most excited about for this weekend.

(1:51:05-2:03:53) – Jimmy and Will open up the phone lines with one caller giving a suggestion for those who will be taking an Uber or Lyft to the track or after the race. Another caller suggests that owners shouldn’t be so stuck up with their money and that there should be a cap on how much money certain positions can make in the NFL.

(2:03:53-2:07:09) – We close out this week’s show with the JCook Plays of the Day and Will announces which driver he will be taking to win the Indy 500!
