Query & Company - 11/3 - Colts vs. Panthers on Sunday, Pacers Play Their First NBA In-Season Tournament Tonight, Pat Boylan and David Newton Join The Show
(00:00 - 27:32) - Query and Company is hosted again by Brian and Jimmy for the Friday edition. Brian instantly opens with some Will Levis talk. Noe thinks the future is brighter for Levis than it is for Anthony Richardson in the NFL. Richardson's college career combined with his short playing time this year are reasons Noe thinks Richardson won't pan out in the NFL. Neither Colts or Titans fans want the other team's quarterback. A lost rookie season is a bigger deal than some people might be making it for Richardson. (27:33 - 38:11) - The NBA's in-season tournament is both boring and a good idea at the same time to Brian. The NBA needs a team with some history behind it to win the NBA in-season tournament to make it seem important. Brian says teams like the 76ers, Bucks, and Celtics would all be good examples. (38:12 - 41:42) - Quick NFL talk on how some of rookies have developed so far this season. (41:43 - 1:09:48) - Pat Boylan, sideline reporter for the Indiana Pacers joins Query & Company to talk about the beginning of the NBA In-Season tournament. Brian wants to know how Pacers players feel about the idea. Boylan says that Haliburton stated that the prize pool is worth trying to make a big deal of the tournament. Jimmy and Pat breakdown how the in-season tournament will affect regular reason games and records. What difference would Haliburton have made if he was on the court against Boston in their last game. Boylan has a lot of faith in the Pacers offense this year, defensively the team still needs to lock into some things. What can/can't Pat say in regard to gambling in the NBA. (1:09:49 - 1:21:57) - Breaking news with Colts head coach Shane Steichen announcing the injury report for the Week 9 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Jimmy's faith in the Colts making the playoffs has started to really fade following their loss last week to the New Orleans Saints. This game, regardless of injuries, should be a win. Even if it won't be easy. The Panthers might be feeling like this is a lost season as they are not doing well this year and also will not have their draft pick next year. (1:21:58 - 1:23:59) - Touch and go teasing upcoming guest Kevin Bowen. (1:24:00 - 1:51:03) - One half of The Wake-Up Call with KB and Andy joins the show as Kevin Bowen is on to talk with the guys. He has a bet on the Pacers this season for 45 total wins. KB thinks that the in-season tournament for the NBA will provide some amount of entertainment to fans. Even if you're against the tournament the games still count towards a regular season record so that gam matters no matter what. Foul troubles are a big part of what got the Pacers in a sticky situation against the Bulls, they will need to stay away from that tonight according to KB. Moving on to football talk KB breaks down what he needs to see from the team for the rest of the season. Some back and forth on if Jelani Woods will play this year. Is there any bet KB would take on the Colts? (1:51:04 - 2:00:43) - David Newton ESPN reporter for the Carolina Panthers is on to talk about the other team's side of the equation. First thing is first as they discuss former Colts head coach Frank Reich and how he has gotten along in Carolina. Will the Panthers offense get some juice against a lackluster Colts defense. Panthers have not had a solid come from behind drive since 2018 when Cam Newton was quarterback. Is this really a revenge game if Frank Reich has not showed any bitterness towards the Colts over his firing? The players still believed in Reich even as he was fired. One key to long term success is having players that are rooting for a coach as much as the coach is rooting for them. (2:00:44 - 2:05:08) - JCook plays of the day and a bet between Jimmy and Brian over the Dolphins and Chiefs.Support the show: https://1075thefan.com/query-and-company/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A final story regarding Fran's time doing commentary with Knight. (45:53 - 48:17) - Brian plays a clip in regard to another coach that he believes also applied to Coach Knight and the fire he had as a coach and competitor. (48:18 - 1:12:18) - Steh Greenberg of ESPN joins the program and gives his thoughts on the late Bob Knight. He says that while Knight was a very demanding coach, he always managed to pull the best out of his players and form good relationships with them. Greenberg says he was able to make a lot of players' lightbulbs go off and put the pieces together to make his players better. He acknowledges that coach Knight had his detractors and rightfully so, but says it always was with good intent. Greenberg recalls Knight's "Pain in the rear" story. Knight had a big amount of respect for coaches that came before him. He says that Knight's biggest legacy on basketball can be found in the size of his coaching tree. (1:12:19 - 1:24:04) - Audio from other coaches around sports and their thoughts on the passing of Bob Knight. Quinn Buckner, a former Knight player, shared his thoughts on his passing during the Pacers game last night saying that he will be dearly missed. Tim Brando of Fox Sport joins in mid-segment to reflect on the life of Bob Knight. Brando recalls a time in which he was thrown out of practice by Coach Knight. He and the coach had a very heated introduction to each other, but as Brando stood up for himself a mutual respect developed. (2:07:04 - 2:22:40) - Matt Taylor, radio voice of The Colts joins Brian and Jimmy, to talk Colts vs. Panthers on Sunday. Before getting to that Brian asks Taylor for any of his memories regarding Bob Knight. Taylor says that childhood was all about trying to get to go see as many great basketball games as possible during IU's era of dominance. The Colts talk begins with Taylor reflecting on his knowledge of Frank Reich when he was a Colts coach. He thinks that it will be a tough game down to the wire, but the Colts will be hungry to try and snap a three-game losing streak. (2:22:41 - 2:37:35) - More talk between Jimmy and Brian on how Coach Knight was bigger than basketball. If you went anywhere in the world and said you were from Indiana, Bob Knight was the first name others brought up. Teams are constantly chasing the legacy of the 1976 Hoosiers. Will IU Football be playing with a little extra fire this week? Bob Knight launched Indiana on to the map during a time when smaller communities in Indiana needed it most. (2:37:36 - 2:42:16) - Wrap up talk and JCooks plays of the day.Support the show: https://1075thefan.com/query-and-company/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
