Show Notes

In the past decade, craft beer has exploded in popularity across the
United States—even as the sales of mainstream brews such as Budweiser
are declining drastically. This trend has been fueled by publications such
as the Beer Advocate, and bears an eerie resemblance to the mania that
occurred when wine first became part of the American landscape in the late
1970s. There’s an active black market for the top craft brews, which
sometimes sell out in a matter of hours for inflated prices. Mark speaks
with Tyler Jones, head brewer at the Portsmouth Brewery in New Hampshire.
Founded in 1991, Portsmouth was the country’s first brewpub, and has
been part of the craft beer movement from the beginning. On Bizarre
Beverage News, Mark explores an intriguing question: would you pay $225
for a bottle of wine that was aged on the ocean floor?
