S2 Ep 9We need to talk about chemsex
EMore and more gay and bi men are using drugs to escape, for sex and to find a new high in Chemsex. In this week's #QueerAF we hear exclusive extracts, recorded just for us, from the critically acclaimed Chemsex Monologues. We discuss why the LGBT+ community turns to drugs to escape, and the rising tide - especially among gay and bi men in cities: of chemsex, the use of drugs to enhance or change sexual experiences to new levels.COME TO OUR EVENT:For all the details go here:https://www.facebook.com/events/190299261758920/Or buy your ticket for as little as £5:https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/a-rendezvous-with-evan-davis-and-a-gay-a-nongay-tickets-45108082489Links:SUPPORT:www.gaystarnews.com/chemsexhttps://www.gmfa.org.uk/Pages/Category/safer-chemshttp://www.davidstuart.org/http://dean.st/chemsex-support/MORE OF THE CHEMSEX MONOLOGUES:Follow them: https://twitter.com/paddycashWatch them: http://www.dragonfliestheatre.co.uk/Read them: https://www.oberonbooks.com/chemsex-monologues.htmlSign up as a QueerAF member to listen along ad-free and support our not-for-profit work, investing in a new generation of queer audio professionals:https://www.wearequeeraf.com/membership/If you like our podcast, you'll love our free weekly newsletter that thousands of readers use to understand the LGBTQIA+ 🏳️🌈 headlines, learn new perspectives and stay on top of the latest queer content. S2 Ep 8Are queer night clubs disappearing – or are we experiencing a revival?
We hear a lot about how gay bars and LGBT spaces are closing. Statistically, venues are on the decline. But what about queer spaces? From York to Wales, queer activists all over the country are setting up their own nights – free from mental health stigma, transphobia and without booze. Why? Because when something doesn't exist for queers, queers make it happen. We investigate the cultural queer nightclub revolution going on in the UK.Reporter/producer: https://twitter.com/amyashendenPresenter: https://twitter.com/jamie_warehamThe clubs nights featured in today's show:1. S2 Ep 7I used a gay dating app for the first time and recorded my first date
This episode is brought to you by Jack’D. They asked us to investigate dating apps like their own, and we asked Sean to have a go with their app. If you are a subscriber to our show you’ll remember Sean from episode 6 of season 2 – I’m gay, but I’m also a homophobe. If you haven’t listened to Sean’s brave and powerful story about overcoming the internal shame of being gay, you should go back and listen. Because it will frame so much more of what’s about to happen. After that episode Sean is understandably quite apprehensive about logging on to a gay dating app. For the first time. With many users looking for sex over friends or dates, like Sean is – well lets just say. We’re throwing him in at the deep end here. We followed 15 LGBT+ young people who slept rough for the first time
bonusAfter a busy few week’s at National Student Pride HQ. We’re taking a short two week break to recoup, relax and then bring you the second half of season two. But we do have something for you today in this minisode: It's the story of 15 young people who raised an amazing £2600 pounds for UK LGBT homeless youth charity Albert Kennedy trust charity. They went to the RVC college in Kings Cross to do this in a safe place, toilets and even a warm room if they got cold. But all 15 of them stayed outside, on yoga mats and slept on the floor. Charlie who you’ll remember from season one of the podcast took part, and this is her diary of the night. The audio is from a video done by Gay Star News’s Students section. Throughout you’ll hear her speak to YouTuber Lily Ella, Bisexual advocate Corey Wiseman and Student Pride’s co-chair Hatti Smart.
