Here is your social-media-ready breakdown of every story from Episode 330. This Week's Top Story We Have A 2026 WNBA season y'all! After months of negotiations and uncertainty, the Women's National Player's Association and the WNBA have reached an agreement 51 days before the start of the 2026 season. The tentative agreement is described by the WNBA as "one of the most transformational labor agreements ever reached in major professional sports." Improvements include significant salary caps and salary raises, housing for all players through 2028, commodified air travel, better training facilities and staff, Pregnant player trade consent, and increases in player bonuses. As of the writing of this story, the National Player's Association is awaiting the ratification that will make things final but this verbal agreement is a great step. The college draft is currently scheduled for April 13th and the Preseason games will begin on April 25th. This Week In Politics Idaho's Newly Passed Trans Bathroom Ban Comes With A 5 Year Prison Sentence. Idaho's majority republican House of Representatives has just passed HB 752, one of the most aggressive anti-trans bathroom bills advancing to the Senate this year. The bill states that "any person who knowingly and willfully enters a restroom or changing room in a government-owned building or a place of public accommodation designated for use by the opposite biological sex of such person shall be guilty of a misdemeanor". A misdemeanor in Idaho is equivalent to a year in prison. Anyone unfortunate enough to be caught twice would be looking at up to five years in prison and the charge would be upgraded to a felony. That's not all, If a trans person was caught violating a bathroom ban in a different state, they could automatically qualify for a felony charge should they be caught in Idaho. The exact diction in the bill of "a similar statute" is rather vague and could open things up for that similar stature to be something as simple as a civil fine. Idaho's Senate is also a republican majority, but Governor Brad Little has not communicated publicly either way on how he'll sign when the bill hits his desk. Newly Elected Judges Juliet Howard her wife, Norma Jennings make New York History New York makes queer history with two newly elected Judges. Happily married couple Juliet Howard and wife Norma Jennings made history as the first queer married couple to be "concurrently sworn in as judges in the New York courts." The duo have made names for themselves long before this as trailblazers in the New York legal system. Norma Jennings made history last year as the first Black LGTBQ+ elected judge in Brooklyn and Native New Yorker Juliet Howard

Here is your social-media-ready breakdown of every story from Episode 327. This Week's Top Story New York makes queer history appointing Taylor Brown as the first trans woman to lead a city office Mayor Zohran Mamdani made a historic announcement on Friday, March 13th at the Brooklyn Community Pride Center in Crown Heights. He was there to sign an executive order establishing a mayor's office on LGBTQIA+ affairs. As part of the order he appointed civil rights attorney Taylor Brown who was currently serving as the Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Bureau as its first director. Taylor becomes the first trans woman to lead any city office or agency in New York City. New York Attorney General Letitia James had this to say about Taylor, "In her time at the Office of the Attorney General, Taylor has been a tireless champion for fairness, dignity, and equal justice under the law. New Yorkers will be well served by her leadership, and I look forward to her continued service ensuring every LGBTQ+ New Yorker is protected and celebrated." This Week In Politics You can't remove crosswalks from the sky. Florida's rebellion against rainbow crosswalk demolition. As you know Florida has constantly been removing and painting over rainbow crosswalks as a part of Ron Desantis' order for the department of transportation to remove pavement surfaces that don't "comply with the national standard." Well, The city of St. Petersburg Florida found a creative way to combat the state's crackdown on Rainbow crosswalks and all you have to do to see it is look up! During this year's winter pride fest, the city of St. Petersburg illuminated the night sky with an array of colorful lasers that formed a rainbow. The lights could be seen for 60 miles and local residents took to the streets to photograph the beautiful display. The rainbow crosswalk in the sky shone for all three days of St. Petersburg's Winter Festival. The Rainbow laser installation, titled "Global Rainbow", was created by Yvette Mattern, who originally debuted the installation back in 2009. Katie Couric and Governor Newsom have a One on One Katie Couric opens up about her one on one interview with California Governor Newsom who had a lot to say about the upcoming primaries, his new memoir, and trans people in sports. Take a listen to this snippet of their interview and let's discuss it when you come back. This Week In Culture & Entertainment TS Madison granted court protection from stalker Naquan Palmer TS Madison was granted temporary court protection from internet famous stalker DL Whisperer otherwise known as Naquan Palmer. The dispute between the two has been building for quite some time, but arguably this all began when Naquan Palmer posted a video reacting to TS Madison interviewing NeNe Leakes. Here is your social-media-ready breakdown of every story from Episode 328. This Week's Top Story NYU Langone abruptly ended gender-affirming care. New York Attorney General Letitia James Has Ordered Them To Resume Operations ASAP. New York Attorney General Letitia James sets her sights on NYU Langone, ordering the Manhattan hospital to resume providing gender-affirming care weeks after they announced that they would be discontinuing their transgender youth health program. In a detailed letter Letitia's office explained that the hospital's sudden closure violates "the state's anti-discrimination laws by jeopardizing access to medically necessary healthcare for some of the most vulnerable New Yorkers." In the letter, she gave NYU Langone until March 11th to resume providing gender-affirming care or face "further action". Since Trump's 2025 executive order to cease gender-affirming care for minors, more than 40 hospitals nationwide have complied and closed their gender-affirming care for minors including California's biggest youth hospital Rady Children's Health which we reported on back in episode 323. Hospitals complying to the government at this rate sets a dangerous precedent for the government's involvement in one's personal healthcare, so it's great to see attorney generals such as Letitia James be vocal against this attempted tyrannical takeover. This Week In Politics LGBTQ+ Federal Employees Speak Out on Suing Trump A handful of LGBTQ+ federal employees have come forward to talk about their decision to sue Trump. Some commonalities in the cases include wrongful termination, blatant discrimination, and flagrant civil rights violations that are still being upheld by the current administration. Similarly all of these surfaced after Trump's onslaught of executive orders signed back in January of 2025. Illinois National Guard lead military and family readiness specialist LeAnne Withrow, NSA data scientist Sarah O'Neill, Former FBI employee David Maltinsky, TSA officer Danielle Mittereder, and the entire The Human Rights Campaign Foundation are amidst the group of LGBTQ+ federal employees who have come forward. Florida Suddenly Cuts Funding For HIV and AIDS Health Care Florida has suddenly cut funding for both HIV and AIDS health care on March 1st. This move puts tens of thousands of people at risk as they scramble to find additional financial assistance coverage for their medication. Florida's Department of Health announced the cuts to the AIDS Drug Assistance Program or ADAP for short last month. New federal guidelines dictate that the change in ADAP policy states that the program "will now only serve people who earn at or below 130% of the federal poverty level, or roughly $20,345." Mind you 60% of Floridians are enrolled in ADAP but due to the policy change more than half of those enrolled in the program will no longer qualify for financial aid. The emergency rule is only in effect for the next 90 days and it can be renewed. Still numerous people are left without financi

S5 Ep 328Interview: Senator Mike Simmons' Bold Vision for Congress
This week on the Queer News Podcast, Anna DeShawn sits down for an exclusive Season 5 interview with a leader who is truly "about that life": State Senator Mike Simmons. Representing the far north side of Chicago, Simmons made history as the first openly LGBTQ+ person and the first Ethiopian American to serve in the Illinois State Senate. Now, he's taking a monumental leap to run for U.S. Congress in Illinois' 9th District, bringing a track record of 50 bills passed into law in just four years. This special episode is an honest look at the "lived experience" we need in D.C., as Mike discusses his unique People's Legislative Councils and why he believes "creative protest" is the only way to combat the affordability crisis and protect marginalized communities. From the behind-the-scenes story of making Illinois a sanctuary state for trans families to a candid conversation about the fundraising gaps Black and LGBTQ+ candidates face, this interview is a reminder that authentic representation isn't just a buzzword—it's a tool for survival. Here is your social-media-ready breakdown of every story from Episode 327. This Week's Top Story Kansas Bill SB244 Overrided By Republicans Leading to Hundreds of Trans Kansans Losing Their Drivers Licenses Overnight. Recently Kansas Governor Kelly's veto was overridden by Kansas Republicans, allowing SB 244 to go into effect. This means that using the bathroom that doesn't match your sex assigned at birth in government buildings is now illegal. The bill also stated that Kansas drivers licenses now must reflect a person's sex assigned at birth. Hundreds of trans residents in Kansas received a letter from the state stating "Pursuant to the new law, if the gender/sex indication on the face of your current credential does not match your sex assigned at birth, you are directed to surrender your current credential to the Kansas Division of Vehicles.". They were given a 24 hour notice to surrender their license and get a new one. A lawsuit has been filed by the ACLU, the ACLU of Kansas, and Ballard Spahr LLP on behalf of two anonymous trans Kansans in response to the passing of SB 244 claiming that the bill is "violates the Kansas Constitution's protections for personal autonomy, privacy, equality under the law, due process, and freedom of speech." This Week In Politics Celebrations! Texas SB 12 has been issued a preliminary injunction by the Federal Court. In some good political news, Texas Senate Bill 12 has been issued a preliminary injunction by the Federal Court. The bill aims to "ban programs and discussions relating to race, gender identity, and sexual orientation in all public and charter schools in Texas from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade." That bill also includes the total ban of Genders & Sexualities Alliances clubs [formerly known as Gay-Straight Alliances]. A preliminary Injunction means that key parts of the bill were challenged, and until the issues are resolved, SB 12 won't go into effect. The tea is that the T.E.A or the Texas Education Association [tea for short] Commissioner was dismissed from the court because he failed to enforce the law in a timely manner. Pulse Nightclub Set To Be Demolished In March The Pulse Nightclub is set to be demolished on March 18th. The club has remained untouched since the massacre in 2016. The city of Orlando announced that key artifacts from inside the building have been transported to a warehouse for safe keeping and that "the Pulse sign will be removed on or near March 10, 2026, from outside of the building as a part of this process. The sign will be securely stored after removal." In the nightclub's place, the city plans to build a memorial for the 49 lives lost and they will reveal the designs for the memorial during a town hall meeting on March 5th. This We

Here is your social-media-ready breakdown of every story from Episode 325. This Week's Top Story Anti-Trans Bathroom Bill SB 244 Dismissed By Kansas Governor Laura Kelly We have good news regarding Kansas bills SB 244 and HB2426. The bills in question would've allowed private citizens to act as bounty hunters, encouraging them to search for trans people utilizing private business restrooms and sue them for as much money as possible. It was announced recently that Governor Kelly vetoed the Senate Bill 244. Now that Senate Bill 244 has been vetoed, the bill will return to the Senate. A potential override of the veto could still happen if there's enough votes in the republican-legislature and Kansas Republicans Ty Masterson and House Speaker Dan Hawkins have vowed to veto. The Senate needs 2/3rd's majority for the bill to become a law. While we wait to see what comes next for this bill, Kansans please continue to call your legislators. This Week In Politics Virginia Rep Abigail Spanberger Defends Marriage Equality and Abortion Rights In Constitution Amendments Virginia Representative Abigail Spanberger asks the local government and people of Virginia to take a stand. Earlier this month she wrote into legislation positive constitutional amendments for marriage equality. The amendment is to the 2006 Marshall-Newman Amendment which defined marriage as "between one man and one woman and barred recognition of any legal status 'approximating' marriage." The Marshall-Newman amendment was ruled unenforceable back in 2014, but Rep. Spanberger aims to eradicate it from the Virginia Constitution entirely. Revising the state constitution will also protect marriage equality in the state of Virginia should the supreme court ever revert that decision to the states. Shevrin Jones Is Florida Democrats New Leader Elect Continuing the good vibes in political news this week, Shevrin Jones was unanimously voted by the Florida Democrats to be the next Leader Elect starting 2028. Senator Jones has been a part of the Florida Senate since 2020 making history as the first gay person to be elected into the Senate. In a brief, but heart-felt statement on instagram he thanked his colleagues for their support: "Truly grateful for the trust my colleagues have placed in me to lead our Senate Democrats. Here is your social-media-ready breakdown of every story from Episode 324. This Week's Top Story The Trump Administration Orders The Removal of The Pride Flag From Stonewall The Trump Administration really tried it. Four days ago the Trump administration called for the removal of the pride flag from the Stonewall National Monument. The National Park Service complied, telling CNN that "Recent adjustments to flag displays at the monument were made to ensure consistency with federal guidance and applicable executive order…Stonewall National Monument remains committed to preserving and interpreting the history and significance of this site through its exhibits, programs, and educational initiatives" People quickly organized a protest the same day that the pride flag was removed from Stonewall and many prominent lgbtq+ activists spoke out. Cathy Renna, the communications director for the national LGBTQ taskforce, left the QNP team a voicemail sharing what it was like at the protests at Stonewall and the energy on the ground when the flag was raised once again. Tune in to this week's episode to hear the full story. This Week In Politics The Trump Administration Attempts To Revoke $600 million in health care funding from four states As if the removal of the pride flag wasn't enough, the Trump Administration is aiming to cut $600 million dollars in public health care funding to four states. California, Colorado, Illinois, and Minnesota are all at risk of losing millions in federal funding grants. It's not lost on anyone that these states are led by democrats who continue to vocally disapprove of The Trump administration and its deplorable actions. A spokesman from the HHS announced that "These grants are being terminated because they do not reflect agency priorities". Those "unreflected priorities" being programs aimed at the LGBTQIA+ community, HIV awareness, and disease outbreak management. On February 13th Illinois federal judge Manish Shah blocked the cutting of funds citing that "the states have shown that they would suffer irreparable harm from the agency action.". This action stops the Trump Administration from acting on their decision to rescind the funds for 14 days. The Trangender Law Center Breaks Down What A Transgender Bill Of Rights Could Look Like The Transgender Law Center speculated what a potential Trans Bill of Rights could look like after the U.S. House of Representatives made a call for the development of a Transgender Bill of Rights. "Should the bill advance, this resolution would outline a federal framework to protect trans and gender-expansive people's access to

Here is your social-media-ready breakdown of every story from Episode 323. This Week's Top Story Anti-Trans Law Roundup: A Brief Summary Of the New Anti-Trans Laws States Are Attempting To Pass For our top story this week, in this day and age it's important to stay up to date on the laws in this country as they seem to change almost everyday. We've rounded up four anti-trans laws that states are trying to pass in 2026. In Kansas, bills SB 244 and HB2426 are making big strides towards the senate. Those bills would allow private citizens to act as bounty hunters, encouraging them to search for trans people utilizing private business restrooms and sue them for as much money as possible. Nebraska is also trying to implement a whole slew of anti trans laws including bathroom bans for state owned buildings such as colleges, restrictions in gender-affirming care, and the possible ban of HRT for youth under 19 years old. As if Minnesota hasn't already been through enough, the Trump administration is targeting Trans athletes in the state. And Indiana is targeting incarcerated trans people with the bill SB 182. This Week In Politics Remembering Jay Lee Back in 2022, cherished member of the LGBTQ+ community in Oxford Jay Lee vanished without a trace. His remains were found last year. For years his family searched for answers, and now all has been revealed. Dateline released a 2 hour episode detailing Lee,s disappearance and two trials that led to the conviction of Sheldon "Timothy" Herrington Jr, Lee's murderer. The State of California Takes Legal Action After the Termination of Trans Youth Care One of the largest hospitals that offered gender affirming care to youth in the state of California, Rady Children's Hospital, announced last month that they'd no longer be offering those services. This was a devastating blow to trans youth in California as the hospital served over 1,900 patients seeking gender-affirming care with approximately 1,450 of those patients under 19 for the past 14 years. The state of California is now suing them. California Attorney General Rob Bonta is leading the lawsuit against the Rady Children's Hospital. Bonta's leading complaint aims to "address Rady Children's Health's (RCH) unlawful refusal to fulfill its legal obligations to the Attorney General to the detriment of its patients." This Week In Culture & Entertainment The National Rainbow College Fund is Accepting Applications The National Rainbow College Fund has launched their 2026–2027 Scholarship Program! "National Rainbow College Fund is powered by San Diego Foundation, one of the largest community foundations in the U.S. and a leading scholarship provider in California. The fund supports efforts to reduce educational disparities for students who have faced barriers related to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, and is open to all applicants and allies who support these principles." The fund will award 200 selected California students a combin

Here is your social-media-ready breakdown of every story from Episode 322. This Week's Top Story Independent Journalist Don Lemon Arrested while covering the protests in Minneapolis Don Lemon was one of multiple journalists arrested on Friday for covering a protest at a Minnesota church. The pastor of Cities Church in St. Paul, David Easterwood, was alleged to be working with ICE, so protestors peacefully interrupted a Sunday service, and Don Lemon was one of a group of journalists present at the church. The DOJ charged the journalists with "conspiracy against the rights of religious freedom at a place of worship and injuring, intimidating and interfering with the exercise of the right of religious freedom at a place of worship". Lemon was later released the same day with a court date of February 9th in Minneapolis. This Week In Politics States Sue Trump over Transphobic Policies California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington have joined together to sue the head of health and human services Robert F. Kennedy over the executive order embedded within the Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. By refusing to comply with the executive order, these states have lost millions in funding for vital programming. New York Attorney General Letitia James is guiding the collection of states during the lawsuit. The USA Hockey Organization Quietly Banned Trans Athletes In Secret The USA Hockey organization quietly made the move to ban trans athletes from competing in "hockey leagues that match their gender identity" late last year. USA Hockey debuted a new participant Eligibility Policy back in November. Within the policy restrictions for trans athletes are written boldly: "In all programs where participation is restricted by sex, athletes are only permitted to participate in such programs based on their sex assigned at birth, except that a female (as assigned at birth) may not play in programs restricted to females if they have undergone any male hormone therapy." This policy will go into effect for the 2026 USA hockey season set to begin on April 1st thus essentially barring trans athletes from competing on National and Olympic teams. Several have spoken out against this discrimination including the first out trans hockey player Harrison Browne and the Seattle Women's Hockey League. This Week's Top Story Chicago's new Director of LGBTQ+ affairs Chicago has elected Antonio King as the city's new Director of LGBTQ+ affairs. This is the first time that the newly elected director will work directly with Mayor Brandon Johnson's office to oversee the creation of policies that protect and create openings for LGBTQ+ Chicagoans. When asked about the promotion, King had this to say: "I'm building on the foundations that were laid by people like Mary Morten and Bill Greaves," King told the Windy City Times. "We're at a time where we have a federal administration that is so adversarial to the LGBTQ+ community, including our trans siblings who are under attack. It's important to have this role working with this mayor, at this moment in history, to show that we are supported in Chicago." This Week In Politics The Murders in Minneapolis Yesterday ICE struck again, killing Alex Prettia, 37 year old nurse from Minneapolis. Caught on videos by a bystander, Alex could be seen helping a woman who was being targeted by ICE. He defended her from their physical assaults and in turn they redirected the attacks on him. Multiple ICE officers can be seen pepper spraying Alex and beating him before they brutally opened fire, shooting at the man multiple times. Alex was later pronounced dead by a local hospital. In the aftermath of the shooting protestors who were already on scene flocked to the location of Alex's murder to voice their anger with ICE. In response ICE deployed tear gas and flash bangs to disperse the crowd, but Minneapolis residents refused to back down. Hundreds gathered to pay their respect to Alex at a makeshift memorial on site. At this time updates about the shooting are still rolling in, but we will continue to keep you updated on ICE activity in Minneapolis as best we can. Here is your social-media-ready breakdown of every story from the Season 5 premiere. This Week's Top Story Honoring the Historic Legacy of Andrea Jenkins In a move that marks the end of an era, Andrea Jenkins, the first openly Black transgender woman elected to public office in the U.S., has announced her retirement from the Minneapolis City Council. Since her historic 2017 win, Andrea has led through "tumultuous" times, serving as Council President, navigating the 2020 uprisings, a pandemic and managing an MS diagnosis with grace. Now, she is returning to her first loves, poetry and family. We honor her as a possibility model who didn't just break the glass ceiling, she held the door open for everyone behind her. This Week In Politics Renee Good Should Still Be Here The Minneapolis community is reeling following the killing of Renee Nicole Macklin Good by an ICE officer, less than a mile from where George Floyd was murdered. Despite federal attempts to characterize Renee as a "domestic terrorist," eyewitnesses and local officials are disputing the claims. Renee's wife, Becca, describes her as a woman who "literally sparkled." In a historic show of community support, a GoFundMe for the family amassed $1.5 million in days, which the family has moved into a trust. We continue to demand accountability for this federally sanctioned violence. Trans Youth Sports Take the Stand at the Supreme Court Tomorrow, January 13th, the Supreme Court will hear arguments for Hecox v. Idaho and B.P.J. v. West Virginia. At the center of the storm is 15-year-old Becky Pepper-Jackson, who just wants to play middle school track and field. Despite having no "biological advantage" and having transitioned in the 6th grade, Becky is fighting state laws that aim to ban trans girls from sports. With a 6-3 conservative lean, the stakes for trans inclusion in public life have never been higher. This Week In Culture & Entertainment Las Culturistas Catch the Smoke After Jasmine Crockett Comments The award-winning podcast Las Culturistas found itself in hot water this week. Hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang faced major backlash after Matt suggested on-air that listeners shouldn't give their money to Jasmine Crockett, the Black congresswoman known for standing up to MAGA extremism. Following a justified social media firestorm, both hosts issued apologies. It's a reminder that once your voice hits the internet, accountability is the only way forward. We now have an update as to how these bans were held up in the court of law. The U.S. The Court of Appeals ruled that the bans initiated by the Trump administration are to remain in place for now. These rapid changes in policy affect those who serve's retirement, healthcare, etc and Admiral Rachel L. Levine knows the effects of these bans firsthand. Admiral Rachel L. Levine is a trans woman who previously worked for the Biden administration. To commemorate her time serving her country, her portrait is currently on display in Humphrey Building in Washington D.C. That portrait was recently tampered with. Levine's nameplate was altered to read her deadname instead of her name. This Week In Politics Trans Up Front Illinois Receives A Grant From A Familiar Face. The Born This Way Foundation has awarded the Trans Up Front Illinois organization funds from the 2025–2026 Kindness in Community Fund. If the The Born This Way Foundation org's name sounds familiar that's due to the co-founder Lady Gaga. The Fund offers much more than just financial support, it also offers mental health support and resources to those in need. Trans Up Front Illinois is a part of the 55 organizations selected to receive the kindness in community fund. Jason Collins Releases A Diagnosis Update Family, we have an update on Jason Collins, the first openly gay NBA player. His family publicly announced back in September that Collins was battling a brain tumor. When reflecting back on that time Collins recounted that "They [his family] did that [announce the tumour] to protect my privacy while I was mentally unable to speak for myself and my loved ones were trying to understand what we were dealing with. But now it's time for people to hear directly from me." It's now been revealed by Collins himself that he is battling stage 4 Glioblastoma. This Week In Entertainment and Culture Cynthia Erivo Makes Golden Globe History Multi-hyphenate Cynthia Erivo continues to make history. The Golden Globe nominations came out this month and Cynthia has been nominated for "Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy" for her performance as Elphaba in Wicked: For Good. Cynthia is now the first Black woman nominated to be nominated in this category twice, and in a row at that. Cythina was also nominated in the same category for her performance as Elphaba in Wicked: Part One. Teen Vogue X GLAAD 20 under 20 list is out! The sixth annual GLAAD x Teen Vogue 20 under 20 list for 2025 is out. Each year since its inception in 2020, GLAAD and Teen Vogue have teamed up to celebrate 20 incredible changemakers who are under 20 years old! The portraits of this year's honorees were painted by George Hilton III and can be seen on GLAAD's websi

Family, this week on Queer News Anna DeShawn continues to bring you the stories that matter most to our community. In top news, the Victory Institute held its 41st gathering of LGBTQ+ politicians from around the world and I was there. I'm going to tell you all about it. In politics, the USA received an 'F' on the 2025 Franklin & Marshall Global Barometers Report. The Girl Scouts of the UK, GirlGuiding, bans trans girls from joining the organization. Gender-affirming care for Georgia inmates is protected after a law aiming to cut it is struck down. In culture and entertainment, Drag Queen Pattie Gonia raises over 1 million dollars for a more equitable outdoors, and gamers combat trans bans in E-Sports. Let's get into it. Over 3 days they hosted over 700 LGBTQ+ politicians from around the world and for the first time in history a U.S. President came to speak. It's no surprise that President is Joe Biden as he received the Chris Abele Impact Award recognizing his historically LGBTQ+ inclusive administration. This Week In Politics Gender Affirming Care for Georgia Inmates Is Safe…For Now Judge Victoria M. Calvert struck down a Georgia law aiming to eliminate gender-affirming care for Georgia inmates. The Law, deemed SB 185, was given a permanent injunction because the court found that the law violated the Eighth Amendment's prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment. 5 trans people joined together to sue against the bill as they argued that denying inmates gender affirming care was harmful to the inmates health. Incarcerated people are legally supposed to receive healthcare, although what that healthcare entails is up to each individual state. This is a big win for the trans community in this age of legal battles against anti-trans laws. Girl Scouts UK Bans Trans Girls Trans girls have been banned from joining GirlGuiding which is the UK's equivalent to the Girl Scouts. Announced in a public statement the organization said "Following detailed considerations, expert legal advice and input from senior members, young members and our Council, the Board of Trustees for Girlguiding has made the difficult decision that Girlguiding must change, following the Supreme Court's ruling. From today, 2 December, it is with a heavy heart that we are announcing trans girls and young women will no longer be able to join Girlguiding. This is a decision we would have preferred not to make, and we know that this may be upsetting for members of our community." This Week In Entertainment and Culture The US Has Earned an F in the 2025 Franklin & Marshall Global Barometers Report The U.S. is failing LGBTQIA+ quality of life. Literally! The United States has received an 'F' on the 2025 Franklin & Marshall Global Barometers Report. The Franklin & Marshall Global Barometers Report is a collection of data conducted every year that "quantifies the state of global lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) human rights. According to the report, the U.S. has regressed in safety, human rights, acceptance, and violence, meanwhile a fear of

Girlalala was found in a car with gunshot wounds afflicted by her boyfriend Shanoyd Whyte Jr according to authorities. Whyte confessed to the authorities that an argument had begun in the car and that he pulled out a firearm, but refused to go into any greater detail. This Week In Politics A Judge sides with Trans Kids in Philadelphia We have a victory for trans youth in Philadelphia as a federal judge sided against the department of justice's request for access to medical records of children who underwent gender-affirming care at a children's hospital. U.S. District Court Judge Mark A. Kearney sided with the children's hospital of Philadelphia. The city of Boston had a similar win back in September as U.S. federal Judge Myong J. Joun blocked a subpoena sent by the Department of Justice to Boston's Children's hospital. It's World AIDS Day to everyone but the Trump Administration December 1st has been known as World AIDS day since its conception in 1988. It has been a day honored world wide, however this year, the Trump administration has decided to not observe World AIDS day this year. This is a big shift from last year when the Biden administration honored the day by hosting a display of a selection of panels from the original AIDS memorial quilt at the White House. State department employees were directed via email to "refrain from publicly promoting World AIDS Day through any communication channels, including social media, media engagements, speeches or other public-facing messaging," This Week In Entertainment and Culture Queer Artists Take Center Stage At Camp Flog Gnaw Queer artists took center stage at 2025's Camp Flog Gnaw. The Music Festival was created by Tyler the Creator back in 2012 and has persevered through hiatuses, COVID, and historically bad weather. Headliners from this year included Khali Uchis, Doechii, Childish Gambino, A$AP Rocky, and Tyler The Creator. TLC member T-Boz remixes "Creep" to be a PreP and safe sex positive message in a new collaboration T-Boz of the iconic TLC released a new remix of a 1994 classic for a good cause. The singer remixed "Creep" to be PreP and safe sex positive in a collaboration with CareForTheCulture & GileadSciences. The remix promotes safe sexual health with fun and vibrant visuals. The collaboration is a great way to educate people about PreP and the catchy tune is sure to stay in people's heads. 🌈✊🏾🏳️⚧️✨ About Queer News An intersectional approach to a weekly news podcast where race & sexuality meet politics, entertainment and culture. The Supreme Court has decided to hear oral arguments for the cases of West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox. The states at the center of these cases, West Virginia and Idaho, both have laws that restrict trans girls participation in school sports. Should the court rule in favor of the states, there's a strong concern that this could set a precedent for even more discrimination against trans people. This Week In Politics Texas Issued a Partial Drag Performance Ban A Federal appeals court allowed the State of Texas to revisit a ruling made in 2023 that was intended to ban drag performances in the vicinity of people under 18. The law as it stands currently bans performances that contain nude performers in the presence of people under 18. The diction around this potential ban is so vague that it opens up room for legal discrimination against all drag performers regardless of their show's content. Venues that hold performances that go against the Senate 12 law can face a fine of up to $10,000 dollars and performers could face a Grade A misdemeanor if found guilty. This Week In Entertainment and Culture Celebrating Our Trans Siblings During Transgender Awareness Week Transgender Awareness Week goes from November 13-November 19th. It's a time to celebrate our trans siblings and educate others all at the same time. Immediately following the week on November 20th we will remember our trans siblings we've lost to anti-trans violence this year on Transgender Day of Remembrance. S4 Ep 301From Cancelled to $30,000: Anna DeShawn Speaks & Welcomes the Founders of Queer Quest
One year ago, the Purple Tie Affair was cancelled. Today, it stands as a testament to the power of resilience, community, and radical vision, raising an incredible $30,000 for Black queer media. In a deeply personal opening, Anna DeShawn pulls back the curtain on the emotional journey: from losing a major sponsor to rebuilding with grassroots support. She shares why this victory, powered by community, means more than any corporate check ever could. This powerful theme of "building your own table" is the perfect bridge to this week's conversation. Anna welcomes Dr. Jessica and Emily, the brilliant founders of Queer Quest, a revolutionary "unconference" creating a vital space for Black and Brown queer folks in STEM. They discuss the exhaustion of navigating the "ivory tower," the magic of fusing quantum physics with ancestral healing, and the urgent need for spaces that celebrate rest as resistance. This episode is a tribute to those who build their own tables: past, present, and future. Find links to everything discussed in the show notes, including: How to support trans icon Miss Major.
