The end of an era for a destructive numerology-based QAnon cult led by Michael Protzman AKA Negative 48 — a group that got infamous for their belief that JFK Jr and even JFK were on the cusp of returning from the dead. We spoke to CNN correspondent Donie O'Sullivan about his documentary exploring their effect on the families of those involved and the death of their leader. We also spoke with researcher Karma about her long-standing work on the group. In 1989, in the bustling seaport of San Pedro, California, Jackie Hernandez began to experience strange phenomena in her newly rented bungalow. Lights would turn on and off. Objects would move. A heavy breathing could be heard rattling in the attic above her laundry room. After a neighbor experienced the activity herself, she encouraged Jackie to reach out to a team of Ghost Hunters she had recently seen on TV. What would follow was a year-plus long investigation that included everything from full-figured apparitions, to dripping ectoplasm. Jake and Brad provide a comprehensive look at either the best evidence of a poltergeist ever captured on video, or perhaps the first ‘found footage’ horror movie ever made. When it comes to possession, we’re used to hearing stories about the demonic variety. But there’s another side to it: those anointed by the Holy Spirit in religious movements such as Pentecostalism. This type of possession crescendos to ecstatic states, along with spastic movements, snake and fire handling, poison drinking, and faith healing. And in this rare case, a murder done in the name of God. This is the story of one of the most bizarre, depraved, & little-known acts of spirit possession ever committed: Appalachia’s first & only case of ritual sacrifice. Was spirit possession really to blame for the Unknown Tongue Cult murder? And as a chaser, Jake tells the tragic/comic story of George Went Hensley, the man responsible for popularizing snake handling at church. Can you guess how that one ends? Repeat guest Devin O’Shea regales the boys with a tale straight from ‘90s conspiracy theory culture. It concerns the prolific parapolitical researcher and St. Louis native Kenn Thomas. Thomas’ magazine Steamshovel Press made him a minor celebrity and earned mentions in The New Yorker, Time, Newsweek, and The Smithsonian. The magazine was also a source of inspiration for the writers of The X-Files. In 1996, Thomas published his career-defining book: The Octopus: The Secret Government and the Death of Danny Casolaro. The book weaves a complex tale of a massive conspiracy involving a journalist who died in an apparent suicide, Native American reservations, a state-of-the-art-security program, a source named Danger Man, the Contras, the Shah of Iran, and a private security firm called “Wackenhut.” Subscribe for $5 a month to get an extra episode of QAA every week + access to ongoing series like 'Manclan,' 'Trickle Down' and 'The Spectral Voyager': www.patreon.com/QAnonAnonymous QAA's Website: www.qanonanonymous.com Music by Pontus Berghe and Nick Sena. There is a world that blends ancient arcane arts and algorithm-powered short form video content. That world is "Witch Tok," the community of self-described witches and other supposed wielders of magic who discuss the secrets of their craft on Tik Tok. Liv dives into Witch Tok to reveal how 21st century witches are leveraging social media to swap spells, hawk merch, and engage in occasional infighting. We also discover how christian media is reacting the popularity of online witches and continuing the centuries-old feud between protestants and those they accuse of being occultist devil worshippers. QAnon figures have completely taken over the conservative activist organization America’s Future, Inc. Under the guidance of chairman of the Board Michael Flynn, they’re hosting events to radicalize Florida residents with a cartoonish conception of human trafficking. We explore how America’s Future, Inc. got its start as an anti-New Deal publication in the late 30s founded by publishing tycoon Frank Gannett. We also break down their recent event in Sarasota, Florida, where attendees were treated to wild horror stories of child abuse, complete with burlap bags, chains, and adrenochrome harvesting. Will this lead to real estate agents performing raids on houses they think are trafficking hubs? I guess we’ll find out. Julian decides to put five years of QAA knowledge to the test. In the process of detangling a redpilled Roku channel called “Burrow”, he discovers something horrifying: an online lecture course that aims to help pilled students ‘energize their brand’. In the midst of learning how to “not sound so crazy” as to turn away friends and family, the gang begins to uncover a bitter feud between Burrow’s original founders. This is a melted world that blends Q Anon with maddening marketing jargon, and it all culminates with a twelve-question multiple choice exam which Julian must take in order to unlock a secret webpage. With Julian’s extensive knowledge of the deeply pilled, twelve questions should be a piece of cake, right? Time Travel. We’ve all fantasized about what could be possible if we possessed the ability to travel backwards or forwards through time; perhaps to see your favorite band in some small smokey venue before they were famous, or to prevent a horrible tragedy from taking place. But what if you stumbled upon time travel completely by accident? Where would you go? What would you do? This week, Jake, Brad, and Julian dive into the wondrous case of Mike “Mad Man” Marcum, a Coast to Coast AM caller who claimed to have built a Time Machine on his back porch in 1995. We’ll follow Mike from his humble beginnings working in a cardboard box factory all the way through his rise to fame as one of Art Bell’s most memorable callers. For hundreds of years the Rothschild banking family played a central role in conspiracist narratives. In the 19th century the Rothschilds’ massive wealth, war profiteering, connections to powerful governments, and pioneering banking strategies earned them well-deserved scrutiny. But myths about the Rothschilds eventually became a way to promote anti semitic attacks and disguise them as critiques of wealth and power. To help us separate fact from myth when it comes to the Rothschild family, we are joined by repeat guest Mike Rothschild (who, despite his name, is not related to the banking dynasty.) In our discussion with his upcoming book, Jewish Space Lasers: The Rothschilds and 200 Years of Conspiracy Theories, we cover everything from the origin of anti-semetic canards, how the Rothschilds became a financial force in Europe, the evolution of Rothschild conspiracy theories, and a major 21st century financial scandal involving the Swiss arm of Rothschild & Co. Are you ready to be premonition pilled? In the second episode of the Spectral Voyager, we take you on a journey through several devastating disasters - Aberfan, 9/11, the Titanic, plane crashes - and the people that seemed to dream of them before they happened. In fact, there were so many cases of these dreams and visions that a national bureau was created in the U.K. to catalog them, with a tragic ending. We also interview science writer, author, and precog expert Dr. Eric Wargo about the possible scientific explanations of the phenomena. So join Jake and Brad to find out if we can dream the future… or if it’s all just coincidence and hindsight bias. Social media is in flux. The disruption started when Elon Musk acquired Twitter, purged most of the staff, turned the blue checkmark verification system into a pay for play system, and welcomed previously banned extremists and QAnon followers back onto the platform. To add to the chaos, last week Elon announced that Twitter is rebranding as “X.” His stated goal is to turn X into an “everything app,” an all-in-one platform for messaging, voice and video calls, social media posts, payment services, and more. This rebrand included erecting a giant metal flashing X on top of the former Twitter building, much to the discomfort of the building’s neighbors in San Francisco. On today’s episode we discuss how emboldened conspiracists are using their paid checkmarks to build clout and spread disinformation. This includes a newcomer to disinformation game named Dom Lucre, who was suspended for posting child abuse material before Elon personally restored his account. And General Michael Flynn and former 8kun administrator Ron Watkins working to revive pizzagate ahead of the coming election season. We also chat with tech journalist Ryan Broderick in an attempt to figure out why Elon Musk is doing all this. There’s a lot going on in Arizona. Elections directors are quitting due to harassment. A lawmaker named a committee after a QAnon slogan. They’ve tried to pass legislation based on the terrible Dinesh D’Souza documentary 2000 Mules. The conspiracy theories have gotten so crazy that a legislator named Liz Harris was actually expelled for helping promote a wild conspiracy theory involving the Arizona governor, a Mexican Cartel, and the Mormon Church. And of course Arizona is the home of Kari Lake, the former tv news reporter tuned Gubernatorial candidate. She has been busy trying unsuccessfully to overturn the election she lost, writing a book that includes a deranged kidnapping dream sequence, and inadvertently posting evidence of possible crimes her team may be involved in. After years of delays, the film “Sound of Freedom'' has finally hit theaters. The movie stars majorly pilled QAnon-promoting actor Jim Caveizel. He portrays Tim Ballard, the founder of the anti sex trafficking organization Operation Underground Railroad. This film is bound to be a big boon for Tim Ballard. He is a former Department of Homeland security agent, but starting about a decade ago he made a name for himself thanks to stories of bold, daring missions helping rescue abducted children and arresting traffickers. Sex trafficking is in fact a very real and serious problem that is being actively fought by many governmental and nongovernmental organizations. But investigations into Ballard discovered that he exaggerates or sometimes outright fibs about his role in helping victims of trafficking. Similarly, Operation Underground Railroad claims partnerships with law enforcement and corporations that aren’t actually real. To discuss the film, we are joined by Dave Anthony of the Dollop Podcast. To dive into Operation Underground Railroad and its founder Tim Ballard, we talk to Vice News reporters Anna Merlan and Tim Marchman. QAnon is the source of many bizarre tales in the real world. But few are more bizarre than the tale of Romana Didulo, a Filipino-Canadian woman who claims to be the Queen of Canada. Since her appearance in 2020, Didulo has convinced many people that she is the monarch of Canada and also an alien. And that further, she is leading the fight against the worldwide cabal. She issues royal decrees, calls upon health workers and politicians to be executed, and convinces people that her government is making all public utilities free. Sometimes, it’s fine to be wary about calling a belief system or a group of people a cult. But in this case, it’s clear that this is a dangerous cult that has and continues to harm many people. To get a real proper perspective on the state of Romana Didulo, we are joined for the third time by the world’s leading Romana Didulo expert, Mack Lamoureux. He recently published a fascinating and extensive report on the ongoing business headlined “What Happens When A QAnon Cult Leader Moves To Town” on Vice News. It’s official, summer has begun. Naturally, things are beginning to melt at a rapid rate, including the news that is fed to us via our precious black mirrors. In an effort to help the QAA Snowman keep his eyes from falling out of his head, we’ve unleashed our most trusted aggregator Travis View to track conspiracy theories spawning out of Trump’s indictment as well as the emergence of a powerful Kennedy offspring. Meanwhile, Jake unpacks online conspiracy theories related to the missing Ocean Gate submarine, and the reddit communities who are sick and tired of hearing about them. Joining us is resident QAA legal analyst Allie Mezei, to help the guys figure out just how many Pinocchios Donald Trump will be spending in jail. Producer’s note: This episode was recorded before the breaking news about the fate of the submarine and its passengers. In the ‘00s there were three big Conspiracy theory movies on the internet: the 9/11 conspiracy theory film Loose Change, the multi-conspiracy film Zeitgeist, and the illuminati and conspirituality film Esoteric Agenda. Esoteric Agenda is perhaps less famous than the other two, but it was just as impactful for the first generation of internet users who watched videos online. On this episode, we talk about the movie and its creator Ben Stewart. Stewart was the singer/songwriter for an up-and-coming but unsigned band called Hierosonic. While Stewart initially made conspiracy videos to discuss topics in his songs, he soon discovered his YouTube clips were making a bigger impact than his music did. That set him on a path towards becoming a professional conspiracist that stretches to today. He now makes series for the conspirituality streaming network Gaia TV and right wing YouTuber Tim Pool. To help us learn more about Ben Stewart’s career arc Travis spoke to one time Hierosonic roadie Steven Wynne. Travis, Liv, and Jake ponder the chicken-and-the-egg problem of the conspiracy theory media industry. What really drives the popularity of online conspiracy theories? Is it suppliers like Ben Stewart? Or does the demand for exciting misinformation create influencers like Ben Stewart? We spoke with the most visible J6er — known colloquially as the “QAnon Shaman”. He was distinct from the rest of the rioters thanks to his horned headdress, painted face, booming voice, extensive tattoos, and spear. Before he became world famous he participated in QAnon events, which made him an occasional feature of this show. On May 25th, Chansley was released after serving time in federal prison and a halfway house for the crime of obstructing an official proceeding. On today’s episode, we’re going to talk about Chansley's big comeback and what was said when he spoke in person at a church in Scottsdale, Arizona — an event which Travis attended. Then we’re going to play clips from our interview with Jacob Chansley. He discussed his childhood, how he acquired his pluralistic religious worldview, his experiences in prison, and his plans for the future. Infrastructure designed to combat "disinformation" is expanding rapidly within the US government and intelligence agencies. But how do they define it in the first place? The second to last Q drop of 2020 consisted of just one word: “Durham.” This referred to Special Counsel John Durham, who was tasked with investigating the origins of Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI investigation into possible Trump Russia links. After three and a half years, the investigation ended with just one guilty plea from an ex FBI lawyer and a report that scolds the FBI’s actions. Today, we’re going to take a look at some of the contents of that report and how the QAnon community is reacting. We’ll also speculate if this means we can move on from Trump’s election, or if we are all doomed to live in 2016 forever. Sometimes it feels like the online world is split into multiple, incompatible perceptions of reality. This is not a new development. In fact, in the mid-aughts one man tried to create an isolated island of American christian conservative thinking by launching a website called Conservapedia. Though it was advertised as being free from the supposed liberal bias of Wikipedia, Conservapedia became a home of pseudoscience, conspiracy theories, and general right-wing grievances. It even launched a project to create a new English translation of the Bible that was manlier and more conservative than previous translations. To help us understand the history of Conservapedia, we recruited our resident reddit atheist debunker, Travis. He’s going to walk us through the story of Conservpedia’s creation and show off some of the latest additions to the online encyclopedia, which is still active after 17 years. What happens when you combine gamergate and yelling at local elected officials? You get something akin to Moms For Liberty. The nonprofit bills itself as a parental rights organization and grew to hundreds of chapters over the past three years. Though many victims have claimed that the group pushes its agenda through harassment and intimidation, they say they just care about ethics in school curriculums. To help get a better sense of what Moms For Liberty is really about, we spoke to Vice News reporter David Gilbert. He spoke to people targeted by Moms For Liberty for his report "A Far-Right Moms Group Is Terrorizing Schools in the Name of Protecting Kids.” David Gilbert https://twitter.com/daithaigilbert References https://www.vice.com/en/article/dy3gnq/what-is-moms-for-liberty https://buckscountybeacon.com/2022/10/the-right-wing-money-and-influence-behind-moms-for-liberty/ https://twitter.com/daithaigilbert?lang=en https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2022/11/07/the-right-wing-mothers-fuelling-the-school-board-wars Subscribe for $5 a month to get an extra episode of QAA every week + access to ongoing series like 'Manclan' and 'Trickle Down': http://www.patreon.com/QAnonAnonymous QAA's Website: https://qanonanonymous.com Music by Anahedron. We got a hot one folks, and I mean literally. Join us for the second episode of our anti-QAA podcast, where Julian, Jake, and Liv attempt to make sense of our listener’s favorite YouTube clips, Conspiracy Theories, and popular culture mainstays. Listen with glee as our beloved listeners set trap after trap for poor old Jake, tricking him into platforming only the worst content – and demand his take on it as well. The gang covers everything from promisingly pilled YA novels to William Shatner’s singing and smoking habits. But mostly Jake just remembers embarrassing stories from his teenage years while Julian and Liv make fun of him. There are many QAnon live events one can choose from. There’s the Reawaken America Tour, the Patriot Round Up, and even, most recently, Reckoning Fest. But what if those aren’t enough for you? In that case, there’s another way to meet the modern torchbearers of the Q drops. This one is held by a company run by a man best known for “Devolution Theory,” which posits that Trump or his allies somehow secretly remained in power during the Biden administration. To discuss what the livestream revealed about the current state of pilled Americans, we chat with Mike Rothschild, author of The Storm Is Upon Us: How QAnon Became a Movement, Cult, and Conspiracy Theory of Everything. https://twitter.com/rothschildmd Subscribe for $5 a month to get an extra episode of QAA every week + access to ongoing series like 'Manclan' and 'Trickle Down': http://www.patreon.com/QAnonAnonymous QAA's Website: https://qanonanonymous.com Music by Pontus Berghe. Annie Kelly delves deep into the pilling of Andrew Bridgen – a British politician who, until very recently, was a backbench MP for the Conservative Party, representing North West Leicestershire. After a chance encounter with a quack cardiologist, and the weight of the pandemic on his shoulders, Bridgen’s political views slid quickly from ‘run of the mill conservative’ to ‘anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist.’ Jake’s health anxieties are triggered over and over as Annie walks him and Travis through a portrait of a pilled MP. The anti vaccine movement is still relatively fringe, despite exploding during the pandemic. But what happens when someone is too extreme even for the most dedicated antivaxers? That’s the tale of Christopher Key, aka Vaccine Police. In 2021 he made a name for himself by traveling from city to city while wearing a custom “Vaccine Police” shirt and fake badge in order to harass pharmacists, health executives, and city council members. We track his decades-long history of pushing disreputable health treatments — including what he euphemistically calls “urine therapy.” And we learn how his antics have led to multiple arrests and shunning by the anti vaccine community and even Donald Trump himself. Join Travis, Jake, and Brad, as they cautiously step aboard a flying saucer to attend a sleep-away camp on an alien planet… for ten years. Uncover the amazing, maybe true story of an extraterrestrial exchange program that began in the years following the alleged crash landing in Roswell, New Mexico. This story has got something for everyone: Aliens, Clones, the DIA, Time Travel, JFK, and even a little Spielberg! Does a wondrous utopia beckon us from the far rim of the galaxy? Usually, telling lies on the internet is Constitutionally protected. But what happens when it’s not? What happens when you post and meme so hard and so maliciously that you go far outside the realm of protected speech and wind up in a federal prison. That’s the story of a 33-year-old man named Douglass Mackey, who operated a few Twitter accounts under the name Rickey Vaughn. Using these accounts he spread Pizzagate lies, racist tropes, and also messages deliberately designed to mislead people into giving up their right to vote. On May 31st, Douglass Mackey was convicted of Election Interference in the 2016 presidential race after a one week trial. To better understand this case we spoke to someone who has been covering it for years: Michael Edison Hayden from the Southern Poverty Law Center. We chat about Douglass Mackey’s background, the crime he was found guilty of committing, and what it means for the future of online disinformation campaigns. We also discuss the trial’s involvement of “Microchip,” a notorious troll who is currently working as a federal informant. To commemorate the indictment of Donald Trump, Jake searched high and low for a movie involving the arrest of a president. The closest he got was the 1996 film "My Fellow Americans." The screwball conspiracy road comedy stars Jack Lemmon and James Garner as rival ex-presidents, clearly stand-ins for George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, who are forced to team up in order to expose a frame job. Along the way they evade murderous NSA agents and meet ordinary Americans. Jake guides us through this mostly forgotten relic of the 90s which somehow combines a hokey, naive vision of American politics with a maximally cynical portrayal of deep state agents shaping history behind the scenes.
