326: Easter 7C (6/2/2019)
NOTES AND COMMENTARY Revelation 22:12-14, 16-17, 20-21 With Nicole Cox John 17:20-26 Jesus prays for his disciples Acts 16:16-34 Paul and Silas arrested Psalm 97 with Richard Bruxvoort Colligan VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS: Nicole Cox Youtube Channel PSALMIST IN THE FIELD: Richard Bruxvoort Colligan Psalmimmersion.com @pomopsalmist Patreon SUMMARY In this episode, the Gospel of John lingers a little longer in Maundy Thursday. On the eve of Pentecost, we share part of Jesus' prayer from the eve of his crucifixion. His prayer for unity is important to remember, but at what cost? What kind of unity is Jesus praying for? The text from Acts is long, but an interesting story of liberation and captivity. Paul and Silas are arrested for upsetting the cultural and economic status quo. But what about the status quo for the slave girl? How is the jailer liberated? Plus, Nicole Cox has a sorrowful comment on the end of Revelation and Richard BC brings is creativity to Psalm 97/

NOTES AND COMMENTARY Revelation 21:1-6 John 13:31-35 Psalm 148 Acts 11:1-18 PSALMIST IN THE FIELD: Richard Bruxvoort Colligan psalmimmersion.com Twitter: @pomopsalmist Patreon.com/RichardBC VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS: Bryan Odeen Twitter: @BryanOdeen BryanOdeen.wordpress.com SUMMARY We revisit Maundy Thursday with the Love Commandment as found in John 13:31-35. This is the simple foundation of following Christ, but living it out can be so difficult. In Acts, Peter retells his vision of a new understanding of what it means to be clean and holy. "Could I stand in God's way?" he asks. Plus, Bryan Odeen shares about the New heaven as found in Revelation 21:1-6, and Richard has a segment on Psalm 148.
323: Easter 4C (5/12/2019)
NOTES AND COMMENTARY Revelation 7:9-17 John 10:22-30 Psalm 23 Acts 9:36-43 VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS: Jeff Nelson Coffeehouse Contemplative Blog @boldroastrev Jeff's author page on Amazon PSALMIST IN THE FIELD: Richard Bruxvoort Colligan psalmimmersion.com @pomopsalmist Patreon SUMMARY Jesus has conflict with the "Jewish Opposition," and challenges us to define who we think he is. What is the relationship between teaching and belief? Signs and works? Why are some Jesus' sheep and others seem to resist? In Acts Peter raises Tabitha, and we wonder what it means to "proclaim someone is alive." There are some powerful connections to Mothers' Day in this text as well. Plus Jeff Nelson has a word on Revelation and Richard BC shares about one of the most famous poems ever written.
322: Easter 3C (5/5/2019)
NOTES AND COMMENTARY John 21:1-19 Revelation 5:11-14 Acts 9:1-6 Psalm 30 VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS: Cheryl Kerr PSALMIST IN THE FIELD: Richard Bruxvoort Colligan www.psalmimmersion.com/ SUMMARY: John 21:1-19 is the 'appendix' of the gospel, as seven disciples go fishing. Once again, they do not recognize him, but when the net overflows the realize it is the Risen Christ in their presence. What's up with 153 fish? Why did Jesus ask Peter that question three times? Many people call the Acts text "Paul's conversion," but is that really the case? First of all, Paul never believes that he stops being Jewish. Secondly, his transformation hasn't happened yet. Plus we have a great piece by Cheryl Kerr on Revelation 5 and Richard BC shares a nugget on Psalm 30.
321: Easter 2C (4/28/2019)
NOTES AND COMMENTARY John 20:19-31 Revelation 1:4-8 with Susan Presley and Max Hazell Acts 5:27-32 SUMMARY: It's the second Sunday of Easter, so of course we have some Doubting Thomas. But of course we must ask, "who exactly is he doubting?" Thomas doubted the other 10, not Jesus. Our Acts discussion centers on Peter's speech about Christ Resurrected! It's not about passing blame, but declaring what is happening now. Plus Max and Susan bring their creative best to an introduction to our introduction to Revelation.

We talk about Palm Sunday, especially some of the literary context around the story of Jesus' entry. We ask a few quesions, like "Where are the palms?" "Where are the hosanas?" And we ponder if we should extend the reading one more verse. Then we talk a little about Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

There is a line at the end of this passage that some feel gives us a reason to not be in ministry with the poor. To be blunt, these people are wrong. We also discuss Paul's passage about sanctifying grace. Plus Nelson Pierce has a prophetic word on Isaiah, and Richard brings us another beautiful commentary on the Psalms. NOTES AND COMMENTARY Joshua 5:9-12 The manna stops Luke 15:1-3, 11b-32 The Prodigal Son 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 The ministry of reconciliation Psalm 32 Trust, part four VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS: Casey Fitzgerald faithandwonder.com storydivine.com PSALMIST IN THE FIELD: Richard Bruxvoort Colligan psalmimmersion.com @pomopsalmist In this episode Casey Fitzgerald shares a compelling and convicting commentary on Joshua 5. Then we move into one of the most beloved stories of the Bible, the prodigal son (or is it the prodigal father?). 2 Corinthians is an important piece of our understanding of the mission of the church. We are reminded that we are in the ministry of reconciliation, and it is easy to see how others should reconcile. It is much harder when we are the ones needing reconciliation. Finally, Richard shares part four of this Lenten Psalm series on trust.

NOTES AND COMMENTARY Isaiah 55:1-9 Luke 13:1-9 1 Corinthians 10:1-13 Psalm 63:1-8 VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS: Tremaine Combs Dayspring Church (St. Charles, Mo) PSALMIST IN THE FIELD: Richard Bruxvoort Colligan Patreon.com/RichardBC psalmimmersion.com NEW PODCAST TO CHECK OUT: The E and Me Podcast EandMePodcast.com Facebook Instagram In this episode we have an inspiring and uplifting piece from Tremaine Combs on Isaiah 55:1-9. We then move into the Gospel of Luke, where Jesus seems to have a very harsh parable about sinfulness and the fig tree, but also counters the notion that all suffering is because God is punishing sin. The letter to the Corinthians takes this discussion of sin and suffering a little further. Richard Bruxvoort Colligan continues his Lenten Psalms series on Trust.

Then we discuss the strange fact that the Pharisees warned Jesus. Do you mean they aren't always the 'bad guys'? Then we move to a tough discussion on privilege and dual citizenship inspired by Paul's letter to the Philippians. Richard continues his Lenten series on trust.

NOTES AND COMMENTARY Deuteronomy 26:1-11 Luke 4:1-13 Romans 10:8-13 Psalm 91:12, 9-16 VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS: Melissa Myers @PastorMelissa Youtube: #PastorBesties SUMMARY On this, the first Sunday of Lent, we discuss the story of Jesus in the wilderness with the tempter. A closer look at the nature of what tempted Jesus gives us insight into our Lenten journey. Paul's letter to the Romans includes encouragement to keep preaching the good news, and begs us to examine what we mean by the word "salvation."

NOTES AND COMMENTARY Luke 9:28-43 2 Corinthians 3:12-4:2 Psalm 99 PSALMIST IN THE FIELD: Richard Bruxvoort Colligan Psalmimmersion.com @pomopsalmist Patreon SPONSOR: SanctifiedArt.org In this episode Jesus is more than meets the eye. He and his besties go up to the mountaintop, but cannot stay. Paul makes an allusion to a similar experience of Moses. He reminds us that through Christ, our veil is lifted. Richard BC marvels at the mystery of the readings and Psalm 99.
