Ep 45#45 Daily Puck Drop
Today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason Puckett, "Puck", discusses the Mariners heading to Colorado to start a series with the Rockies. Weather is miserable, but hopefully the bats get going. We touch again on the situation with Mike Macdonald taking down pictures of the SB team inside the facility. Puck knows many of you don't care, but he still finds it odd that Macdonald would do this and says that it was an insecure move by a very young coach. You should embrace your past, not try to hide it. Puck touches in on the NBA with the playoffs starting on Friday. The NBA will return and expect an announcement later this year. Puck promotes a new venture with the "Iconic Sonics" podcast which will debut next week. On his first episode he sits down with former Sonics coach George Karl. They talk about his visit to OKC, the current NBA and the playoffs. Puck touches in on the current situation of ROOT Sports and where the Kraken are headed next season. Likely going to KONG TV with some type of streaming service and Puck makes a plead with the Kraken to hire one person for their broadcast opening! Lastly, disturbing story coming out of the WIAA as they consider a transfer portal in high school athletics. Jon Manley, of the Tacoma News-Tribune with some great reporting on the subject. Go check out the article at thenewstribune.com. Puck says this would be a terrible idea for high school athletics. TakeawaysThe Seattle Mariners have a series against the Colorado Rockies and need to improve their offensive performance.Puck disagrees with the decision to remove the pictures and phrases associated with the Seahawks' past from the practice facility, as it erases the team's history and the standard of excellence they achieved.Puck discusses the upcoming NFL draft and the potential strategies of the Seattle Seahawks and other teams. The NBA playoffs are starting soon, and Puck encourages viewers to get familiar with the league as there are rumors of the return of the Seattle SuperSonics.Puck highlights the opening of the Seattle Storm's new practice facility and suggests that Ian Furness should be hired for the Seattle Kraken's coverage.Puck criticizes the proposal to allow free transfers in high school athletics, arguing that it will lead to the formation of super teams and ruin the essence of high school sports.Rundown00:00 Mariners open up vs. Colorado...Need to get fat and happy against the Rockies 08:19 Disagreement with Removing Seahawks' History...+ WIAA considering adding a transfer portal which is a terrible idea25:52 Seattle Kraken's Disappointing Season and Root Sports Update

Ep 42#42 Daily Puck Drop
On today's show, Puck opens up talking about the Mariners and what a great series it was vs. the Reds and how Julio has not let his slow start at the plate translate to the field. Now, they head to Colorado where they can get fat and happy in the elevation and against a bad baseball team. Puck doesn't understand what Mike Macdonald is doing by taking down pictures of past players in the facility. Why wouldn't you embrace your championship past. Dumb move, says Puck. Trevor Bauer deserves a second chance after a second woman who accused him of sexual assault is now being charged with defrauding him. Bauer may not be liked by many, but he now has proved that he didn't assault a second woman and it appears all these allegations against him are false and someone needs to let him back in the MLB. Puck says stop being outraged by the WNBA salaries. The leagues revenue is $60M, compared to the NBA which is $7.4B. The league doesn't generate money, so why should they be paid more by the league? Caitlin Clark earns over $3.5M in endorsements. So, despite her making just $76K, she's going to be ok. Can't we all just have an owner like Steve Ballmer? The Clippers owner covered the entire concessions for his fans on the final home game of the season. That's what an owner is supposed to do. The amount of goodwill he just earned from his fans will pay off for years to come. Lastly, Jontay Porter banned from the NBA for life for betting on himself and games. Good that the league caught this and the gaming industry. People don't realize there are so many checks and balances with this and the league caught it. This doesn't mean we need to stop gambling on sports. No entity more than the gaming industry wants this all to be handled on the up and up.
