She served as the clerk of the circuit court of Cook County, Illinois from 2000-2020. She has served as the president of the National Women's Political Caucus of Greater Chicago and as the president of Lutheran Social Services, Illinois. She is also the founder/Executive Director of the Star Scholarship Fund.
