In Letter #2, Chad Daybell devotes page after page to Tammy Daybell—his wife of nearly 30 years, a mother of five, and, tragically, his murder victim. He paints her as radiant, saintly, and strong woman while weaving a love story full of concerts, family memories, and business success. But what’s missing speaks louder than what’s included. The “Tammy Letter” leaves me even more empty than Letter #1. From absolutes like “I never considered harming her” to tender anecdotes designed to blunt inquiry, let’s expose the rhetorical playbook: Chad’s biography of personal sainthood, his omissions, and the strategic rewriting of history. But, we’ll keep the focus where it belongs—on Tammy Daybell, on Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow, and on the families forced to live in the shadow of these crimes. Along the way, we’ll examine the psychological defenses of narcissism, gaslighting, and impression management, and we’ll show why these letters aren’t contrition, but performance.
