Trinity 15
Matt. 6:24-34; Gal 6:9-10
Without Jesus, we'll believe the liars who tell us that the goal of Christian life is to, "Get along with everybody, comply, bend the knee, and obey the authorities because it's the nice thing to do. It's what God wants us to do.” Without Jesus, we're at the mercy of life's temptations, subject to idols, and doomed to be consumed by worry. Sinful, evil men will rule over us. Petty authoritarians will discourage us. Society will be eclipsed by moral darkness. The bullies of the world will take to the streets to terrorize and prey upon all the nice people. But, when we're in Christ Jesus through faith, we can defy and defeat evil because He will deliver our enemy into our hands, just as He's promised.
