खड़ा हूँ नदी के किनारे प्यासा-प्यासा
जल के पास होकर भी जल नहीं पी पा रहा हूँ
मैने पूछा-
"तुमने अपने पानी का यह क्या रूप बना दिया है नदी?”
नदी दर्द से मुस्कराई, बोली
"मैंने क्या किया है आदमी
यह तो तुम्हारी ही गंदगी है।
जो मुझमें झर-झर कर मुझे विषाक्त कर रही है
अब तो मैं भी अपना जल नहीं पी पाती
प्यासी-प्यासी बह रही हूँ ।"
