कवि लोग बहुत लंबी उमर जीते हैं
मारे जा रहे होते हैं
फिर भी जीते हैं
कृतघ्न समय में मूर्खों और लंपटों के साथ
निभाते अपनी दोस्ती
उनके हाथों में ठूँसते अपनी किताब
कवि लोग बहुत दिनों तक हँसते हैं
चीख़ते हैं और चुप रहते हैं
लेकिन मरते नहीं हैं कमबख़्त!
कवि लोग बच्चों में चिड़ियाँ
और चिड़ियों में लड़कियाँ
और लड़कियों में फूल देखते हैं
सब देखे हुए के बीज समेटते हैं
फिर ख़ुद को उन बीजों के साथ बोते हैं
कवि लोग बीजों की तरह छिपकर
नए रूप में लौट आते हैं
फ़िलहाल उनकी नस्ल को कोई ख़तरा नहीं है
