On his daily First 10 podcast, Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey weighs in on reports that Steelers receiver George Pickens was late for the team's NFL Week 17 Christmas Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Is this latest red flag within a series of them enough to prompt action from coach Mike Tomlin and GM Omar Khan? Should they extend Pickens' contract as he enters the last year of his rookie deal, given the lack of viable receivers behind him? Or should they either trade him or force him to prove himself in 2025?
Jason also gives thoughts on Tomlin's comments about QBs Russell Wilson and Justin Fields at his year-end news conference Tuesday. Does Fields have a legit chance to be the starter in 2025? Or is this another Tomlin smokescreen?
